Book Reviews of 125 Best Cupcake RecipesBook Review: disappointing Summary: 1 Stars
I bought this book based on all of the wonderful reviews. However, I am completely perplexed at how so many thought these recipes were amazing. The best chocolate cupcake ever. Please give me a break, this isn't even a cupcake recipe. The finished product is a brownie in a cupcake liner, then to put frosting on top of it, the sugar overload was sickening. The problem with these recipes is that from what I can see, all of the cupcakes are butter based. Butter makes for a dense cake, which is not what I think of when I think of cupcakes. When I think of a cupcake I think of biting into a delicate fluffy cake that melts in your mouth. None of the recipes I tried came close. They all stuck to the liners and tasted like a bad grocery store cupcake. My daughter had a party and I made the basic white cupcakes. All of the little girls were asking why the whole bottom of their cupcakes wouldn't come off of their liners. I hate to be the complainer, but I feel obligated to let those avid bakers out there know that if they are looking for some new great tasting recipes, this book is not up to par.
Book Review: A great addition to your cookbook collection Summary: 5 Stars
If only for the inspiration, this book is a winner. The recipes are simple, clearly written, and look amazing. For the most part the ingredients are things I usually have in the cupboard, so delicious "scrath" cupcakes are now always less than an hour away. I will never use a mix again. There's no excuse to when these recipes are so easy.
Last night I had to make cupcakes for a bake sale but had been unhappy with the frosting I'd previously used for that particular recipe. So I pulled out this book with it's variety if icings, and voila! the perfect match to raspberry cupcakes: vanilla cream frosting. It's like a normal buttercream, but the addition of whipping cream instead of milk makes it light, smooth and melt in your mouth buttery delicious!
My cookbook standard is if I can get at least one recipe I'll use over and over, it's worth whatever I paid for the book. As someone who loves to bake, I get the feeling I'll more than get my money's worth!
Book Review: Great unique recipes! Summary: 5 Stars
I borrowed this from the library on a whim for a weekend, and ended up loving it so much I had to buy it! If you're looking for fun, unique flavors, this is the cupcake book for you! So far my favorites have been: pink lemonade cupcakes (with lemon glaze), peanut butter and jelly cupcakes (with peanut butter frosting, the BEST frosting I've ever tasted!), and the espresso brownie cupcake (with chocolate ganache, the cake is sooo dense and rich!!!). It's become a little tradition that I let my friends and family choose 2 flavors for to me make for the birthday, and we're enjoying everyone's unique choices!
Also, I've never made frosting before, and was a little intimidated (always using the pre-made stuff from the store). I can't go back to the store bought stuff now, her recipes are so yummy! And each cupcake recipe makes about a dozen cupcakes (usually between 12-16), which is great so that I can make single batches and try different flavors quickly!

125 Best Cupcake Recipes
This cookbook contains some great and creative cupcake recipes. The recipes and instructions are easy to follow and most of the required ingredients are readily available at the average grocery store. The cupcakes I just made from this book were a huge hit at my office, with many people asking if I'd purchased the cupcakes from the new gourmet cupcake store up the street. Making the cupcakes from scratch really wasn't much more work than making them from a box and the results are so much better. I look forward to trying many more of the recipes from this book.
Book Review: Consistently marvelous results Summary: 5 Stars
Our whole family loves cupcakes, and the results with recipes from this book have been consistently delicious, both for me and friends who have borrowed the book. The flavors are natural and clear. We have tried everything from coconut to raspberry vanilla (the lemon cream frosting is killer on these) to mocha and chocolate. The only change I make is to substitute melted butter for oil in the recipes because we prefer the butter flavor. To those who say that the cupcakes are too dense: I think you have become too used to the texture of boxed cake mix or commercial bakery products. These are from scratch, homemade cupcakes without a doubt and I love the texture.
