Book Reviews of 125 Best Vegetarian Slow Cooker Recipes

Book Review: 1 Star, since I won't be using this book
Summary: 1 Stars

I obviously purchased this book for recipes to make in my slow cooker. Since just about every recipe requires pre-cooking, I simply won't be using it; it's just more trouble than I'm willing to go through. It's not just browning onions in the slow cooker, but cooking eggplant, peppers, etc. If I were going to go through all that, I don't need to add another step of using the slow cooker. This was just not what I was hoping, or looking, for.

Book Review: this book turned me into a slow cooker convert
Summary: 4 Stars

This is an excellent cookbook, I have made several of the dishes featured, the cook times are spot on the recipes are easy to follow, use ingredients that you are likely to have on hand and, most importantly, everthing I've tried so far has been delicious. The only complaint is that she is a bit heavy handed with the salt. I have had good results omitting or reducing by half the amount of salt called for in the recipes.

Book Review: Not So Slow Cooker afterall
Summary: 2 Stars

When I read the review of this cookbook, it seemed perfect. When I read through the recipes after it arrived, it appears that the recipes require additional cooking outside of the slow cooker. Just about all of them require sauteeing, boiling down first, some sort of cooking before you actually slow cook. That is not slow cooking to me. I need to put the ingredients in the pot and come home to the recipe made.

Book Review: Great Recipes!
Summary: 5 Stars

I have tried many of these recipes, especially the soups. And all have been delicious!! I love how the book is set up with no recipes extending to the next page - unless it is a facing page. This makes the book very easy to use. The tips prove very useful, too.

If you or someone in your family is vegetarian - or even if you are not - add this book to your cookbook collection!

Book Review: Delicious food; a couple of minor gripes
Summary: 4 Stars

So far, the recipes I've tried from this book have been delicious and fairly easy to prepare. (I avoid anything that looks very time-consuming or that requires exotic ingredients.) I'd definitely buy this book again.

However, I wish it had these two kinds of data for each recipe: portion size and portion-size nutrition. Perhaps a subsequent edition can include those data.
