Book Reviews of 1st to Die (Women's Murder Club)

Book Review: Expletive overload...
Summary: 1 Stars

Today I stopped listening to this audio book for three reasons. First, expletive overload. I'm not naive enough to think that cops don't swear (my brother was one), I just don't want to hear it or read it in every other diaglogue. Second, horrible reader. Third, murder nausea. Can't people just be murdered in a novel anymore without all the perversion added in? It makes me wonder about the mind of the author. Give me a clean or semi-clean mystery that has even a mild aroma of good writing. This was my first James Patterson novel and probably my last. Give me Anne Perry any time!

Book Review: A thriller mystery
Summary: 4 Stars

I gave the thriller mystery book, "1st to Die," by James Patterson four out of five stars. I thought the plot of the book kept it interesting and hard to put down. Another aspect of the book that made it worth reading was the clear character descriptions. As well as describing characters vividly, James Patterson throws in many strong details, but readers be warned some are graphic. Now you see what i liked about "1st to Die," although what i found to make the book interesting could easily have made it hard to stomach for others.

Book Review: First in the Women's Murder Club series
Summary: 3 Stars

First book in the Women's Murder Club series.

Four professional women in San Francisco (a cop, a medical examiner, an assistant DA, and a reporter) join forces to catch a serial killer who is brutally murdering newlyweds.

Lots of page-turning action and Patterson's trademark gruesome, misogynistic murders. Read this for the gory murder mystery, not for the character development. While I didn't love it, I liked it enough that I will continue to read the series.

Book Review: James Patterson 1st to Die
Summary: 5 Stars

I love murder mysteries, When I first saw this series on television I had to read the books. The only problem I had is that linday has dark hair on t.v. and the books have her as a blonde. Putting that aside the story introduces all the characters, and they work well together and support each other while solving violent crimes. Each woman plays a vital roll to the story. If you do not like women who are in charge and are lead characters, then this is not for you. I personally loved it.

Book Review: Abrupt and unrealistic ending; frustrating end to exciting book
Summary: 2 Stars

Gosh dang it; I really enjoyed this book, until the ending when someone dies completely unnecessarily and the plot takes one final twist that's just too abrupt and unrealistic. Annoying that something so good was ruined in the end; I honestly don't know if I recommend it or not--it was interesting, exciting and realistic up until the last five chapters or so. Only read it if you have nothing else to read, otherwise it's not worth the ending frustration.
