Book Reviews of 2008 Writer's MarketBook Review: Writer's Market-A Valuable Resource for Writers Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased the book as part of the required course reading for one of my writing classes. I find it to be chock-full of good information and tips for anyone that wishes to submit their writings to potential publishers. There is a huge range of publishing mediums in the book so you can pretty much zero in on any genre that you specifically write about.
Although it is not a complete list of every magazine out there, I feel it is more than adequate to get you where you want to go and perhaps beyond.
A good reference book to have!
Book Review: Map for Submissions Summary: 5 Stars
The Writer's Market provides a map for writers to find where and how to submit their work.
The amount of information is not limited to the names and addresses of agents and publishers, but also provides guidelines for submitting.
The one problem with a printed source is how quickly the material is outdated. At one time, anyone who bought a copy of The Writer's Market also received a free subscription to the online version. The online version is no long added to the purchase of the book.
Book Review: A Writer's Must-Have! Summary: 5 Stars
Every passionate writer needs to own the 2008 Writer's Market. It's the easiest way to find out where you should try and sell your writing. The entries list publishers' websites, too, and that's the best way to learn about the publisher, their current publishing needs, and get their writer's guidelines.
I also highly recommend Sally Stuart's 2008 Christian Writer's Market Guide. Buy both (tax write-off!) so you can pitch articles and proposals to both markets, reaching the largest readership.
Book Review: A Writer's Best Jumpstart To Submitting Their Work Summary: 5 Stars
My source of information when I submitted my first manuscript. This is such an informative means of support for any writer, whether interested in fiction or non-fiction. Poetry or screenwriting. Even for the freelancer looking to submit articles to various magazines, in a wide range of subject matters. Extremely helpful guidelines to the proper formatting of manuscripts, and writing query letters. And the list of literary agencies comes in quite handy.
Book Review: Writers Market review Summary: 5 Stars
There is really no book like it, but that is not what makes it a fine product. What makes it a level above many reference books are the added value items. The book has practical advice from authors and agents. It has advice on cover letters, style and so much more. If you want to do some freelance writing, publish your work or simply thinking of writing, and you need to know where to start. just who to contact and what format to use, this is the book!
