Book Reviews of 300 Slow Cooker FavoritesBook Review: Big Disappointment Summary: 2 Stars
I was so disappointed in this cookbook. I have dozens of slow cooker recipe books like this one - open a can of cream of mushroom soup, a jar of salsa, a jar of spaghetti sauce or a bottle of this, that or the other. I was expecting some new and fresh ideas. So, if that is what you are looking for, new and fresh ideas, this is NOT the cookbook that you're looking for. Just the same old tired roast with a can of mushroom soup over the top. I MIGHT be able to use three or four recipes but a waste of money and time.
Book Review: Too much trouble Summary: 2 Stars
Im not sure what I expected, and this may be my fault, but I was looking for simple recipes. I just wanted meals I could prepare in minutes. Most of the recepies in the book require extensive prep, browning meat or cooking pasta and using spices and garnishes I dont have. I just wanted to throw some ingredients in my crock-pot and have dinner ready when I come home from work. I think this book is for people who can actually cook and have a well stocked kitchen.
Book Review: Easy, healthy and tasy Summary: 5 Stars
This cookbook beats others I own because it's more natural...no more canned soup recipes. The ingredients enable one to regulate the amount of salt and sugar. Crock pot cooking is a great idea but you still have to do some preparation and that's not always easy in the morning. This book has simple recipes with few extra ingredients. I was able to "try" it before purchase because both my sister and son were using it.
Book Review: Too many steps Summary: 3 Stars
When I think "Slow Cooker" I think "throw ingredients in a pot, eat dinner 6-8 hours later". If I have to pre-cook and do a bunch of steps first, it kind of takes away the reason I use my slow cooker. For that reason, I haven't tried hardly any of these recipes. They may be great, but they'll never get made because I just don't love being in the kitchen that much.
Book Review: Favourite slow cooker cookbook Summary: 5 Stars
This is my family's favourite slow cooker cookbook. My husband is an especially picky eater, but he (so far) has enjoyed every recipes I've made from this book. We've tried at least 6 or 7 recipes, and every one has been delicious. I always turn to this cookbook when I want to use my slow cooker. Definitely recommended!
