Book Reviews of 3rd Degree (Women's Murder Club)

Book Review: Plot-driven and diverting
Summary: 4 Stars

No one would argue that this thriller is great literature. But if you are looking for something good to read on the beach or a long airplane flight, this is just the ticket (so to speak).

Patterson's plot draws you in, irrespective of the justifiable complaints by some other reviewers of its predictability. It's true that there are a lot of handy coincidences that put the heroine in the right place at the right time, but so what? It's entertaining. There are a couple of good, unanticipated plot twists that liven up the narrative, plus enough action to move things right along and keep readers interested.

If you're looking for an easy read that does not present an embarassment to carry around in public, this is it.

Book Review: A Super addition to the Club Series
Summary: 4 Stars

I always look forward to James Patterson's Womens Murder Club books, even though sometimes I read them out of order...like 3rd Degree. Anyway this is an exciting third entry into the The Women's Murder Club. I thought it was a rather fast, light read that I still enjoyed. I wouldn't consider it one of MR. Patterson's best but it was always nice to connect with Lt. Lindsay Boxer, Claire Washburn, Jill Bernhardt and Cindy Thomas. Secondary storylines add to the overall main story and new characters are introduced, (for me they were old..daa) and of course characters from the previous titles in this series are included. In my opinion this is a great series and I would recommend this book to all my friends (I always do anyway.)

Book Review: Inconsistencies Drive Me Batty
Summary: 3 Stars

I loved the Women's Murder Club books, but I really can't stand it when readers are insulted by unnecessary inconsistencies. In books 1 & 2, Jill's husband was named Steve and in book 3, suddenly his name is Rick! In book 2, Lindsay's father shared a good relationship with her and she had good memories of him up until her walked out before her mother got sick. She only saw him one other time after he left and she even confronts him for not attending her mothers funeral. However in book 5, suddenly her father was a mean man who didn't walk out until after her Mum died and he was there at the funeral.

A little bit more attention to detail would make this series an absolute delight for all readers and fans!

Book Review: Reading with Tequila
Summary: 4 Stars

I love the Women's Murder Club series. 3rd Degree offered up more of the same, fast paced, good mystery, and enjoyable characters. What makes this book different than the 2 previous installments is the shocking death of a pretty major character. Even in the third book, you're still getting to know the characters better. Killing one off was something I wasn't expecting and it made the book all the better.

James Patterson is known for writing easy to read, formulaic mysteries that appeal to the masses, but don't venture into uncharted waters. 3rd Degree is a prime example of that. It's a great novel, but it doesn't show the reader anything they haven't seen elsewhere. Fast and fun, but less than original.

Book Review: quick rubbish
Summary: 1 Stars

Along came a spider was an excellent novel,it introduced me to J patterson.3Degree was simply simple .Boring, and void of any real suspence or twists. In fact I'm tired of his stupid wee short chapters, his books are getting shorter but the price is not!
This is a waste of paper.I guess the folks with simple minds like these type of chapters since they've probably never read a real lenth book, such as T Clancy or even J Grisham regularly writes.Anyway thank god I got it from the used bookstore.I used to like James Patterson, but there are a lot better books being written out there, for less $ than JP charges.I dont even mind paying if the book is 500 plus pages, but I wont pay top price for a quarter of a real novel.
