Book Reviews of 5-Factor FitnessBook Review: Great book - specific and tangible info for all fitness levels Summary: 5 Stars
I have a good collection of fitness, diet and nutrition books and this one is definitely is already one of my favorites. The diet recommendations are consistent with other nutrition research: lean protien sources, complex carbs and healthy fats. Not much by way of supplement recommendations but the exercises I found were challenging despite their simplicity and the plan is one that anyone can follow. I work out regularly but this quick workout still gave me a good, deep muscular workout that I felt for days after hitting the area. I highly recommend it to anyone starting out since it provides training plans for novice to experienced fitness levels. It works!!!
Book Review: Five Factor Fitness Summary: 5 Stars
Pasternak has written an easy to follow guide to better health and fitness in five weeks. The menu guide and recipes he includes do not require drastic changes in your shopping and eating habits. The exercise equipment he recommends--a bench and a set of dumbells--is inexpensive and easy to store. The only problem some people may have is following his recommendation of eating 5 meals roughly three hours apart. I'm a teacher and can't simply pull out a snack in the middle of a lecture. The book is inexpensive, the plan is easy to follow. On the whole, an excellent guide for weight loss and fitness.
Book Review: GREAT fitness book!!! Summary: 5 Stars
This is a terrific book, and will help a lot of people get that body they wanted.
My wife is a fitness instructor, and made me buy this book. She worked with Harley once in a clinic in L.A., and has always been amazed with his methods, and results. This book is the real thing: the fitness routines will save you time, and give you a body you will love.
Unfortunately, the diet plan is not quite as logical. I don't think I'm going to stop eating vegetables, just because Harley says so.
Nevertheless: this book gets 5 stars on fitness alone! Read and learn.
Book Review: A Happy Customer Summary: 5 Stars
I've always had a difficult time getting started on
a fitness regimen. I read about 5-Factor Fitness in the LA Times a couple of weeks ago and knew from the article that this was the program for me. After just a couple of days, I knew that I was right. If you don't like going to the gym or just don't have the time, this plan is perfect: twenty-five minutes a day, five days a week. I look forward to my brief sessions and I feel great knowing that I'll be doing this as long as I'm vertical. I'm an actor in LA. Not on the "A List" maybe, but pretty damn good.
Book Review: I Have Seen Worse Summary: 3 Stars
Pasternak's program is simple enough--I can count to five most days--and easy enough to follow. I truly appreciated the portion of his book where he covers exercises. He explains what the exercises are, the rationale behind the specific exercises and their specified sequence, has PICTURES (hooray), and outlines where to go from there. I like the easy meal plans; however, lo-fat/reduced fat/zero fat cheese is nasty no matter how you slice it, Mr. Pasternak! If one is disciplined enough and determined to lose weight while suffering through small meals, then this book is for you.
