Book Reviews of 74 Seaside Avenue (Cedar Cove, Book 7)

Book Review: A satisfying visit with some dear old friends, and some new ones too!
Summary: 3 Stars

I love Debbie Macomber's style of writing, especially the knack she has for drawing the reader into the setting, making it feel like one's own neighborhood, and the characters feel like old friends. Cedar Cove is a wonderfully warm and friendly community, and one that I'd be happy to be a part of. Having said that, this is my least favorite of the Cedar Cove books. It's hard for me to say why, but I think it's because there are too many new faces in town, and it's confusing to keep track of them all. While I really love the original core characters, I don't find the ladies at the Salon who this book was centered around to be as interesting. Bobby and Teri pale in comparison to Grace and Cliff, Olivia and Jack, Charlotte and Ben, Corrie and Roy, Maryellen and Jon, etc. Thankfully, the characters I love are integrated into this story, which is a huge credit to the author, as I can only imagine how huge an undertaking it must be to write a wonderful and detailed series like Cedar Cove

Book Review: AT Last
Summary: 5 Stars

The Song "At Last, my love has come along,My lonely days are over, And life is like a song, fits all our characters in this book."

I am glad I waited until this Spring to begin to read the Cedar Cove books. I can read them one after another and not have to wait until the next one was published. 74 Seaside Avenue's main focus is on Rachel's two loves Bruce and Nate, Bobby and Teri Polgar, Linnette McAfee and Cal Washburn, and Cal and Vicki, and Troy Davis and Faith Beckwith. As was hinted in the previous book 6 Rainer Drive, Linnette was going to run into some problems with Cal. In this book we know Bruce really loves Rachel and we want to shake to wake him up. Troy meets a lost love Faith Bechwith, however, Megan, Troy's daughter cannot except her father loving anyone else but her mother and you can guess what that means. And Linnette meets a new man who is interested her for a change. A good read. Enjoy.

Book Review: My first Cedar Cove!
Summary: 5 Stars

74 Seaside Avenue

It won't be my last either! At first I had trouble who was who etc. But after awhile I caught on and I couldn't put it down. I loved all the characters and I can't wait to get my hands on all the previous books and the newest one. Debbie writes with such a style that has you begging for more. Maybe it does seem a little too gossipy but I loved it and heck it was enjoyable. Debbie writes so well I didn't notice I just couldn't get enough!! I loved so many of the characters I couldn't even begin to think who was my favorite.

What I like most is she doesn't have to use filthy language and dirty scenes for it to be enjoyable, which is hard in this world today. I am finding it harder and harder to escape these days so I will take it when I can get it! Thanks Ms. Macomber!! Keep on writing! :)

Book Review: Best of Cedar Grove
Summary: 4 Stars

For those of us hooked on Debbie Macomber's Cedar Grove series, this is one of the best, and that's saying something, as all are good and entertaining. But for some reason, I enjoyed this more.

Except for one highly improbable (but enjoyable anyway) plot line about a chess match and Russian threats, the book was a wonderful reunion with the characters we have come to know and love. And even the chess match reunites us with loveable hairdresser Tami and her intellectual powerhouse chess champion husband, Bobby.

There are some sad and serious issues in this book too, from lost love to life-threatening illness, but all are handled with Macomber's warm and compassionate style. On the last page of the book, I wanted the next--it's going to be hard to wait!

Book Review: In Debbie's newest release, Cedar Cove Series #7
Summary: 5 Stars

The story centers around an international chess champion, ( Bobby Polgar,) who receives threats if he plays in a match which he is favored. Fearing his wife, (Teri,) will be killed, Bobby drops out of the tournament. Terri feels in her heart that something is amiss, but her questions, as of yet, remain unanswered. Enter Terri's sister, Christie, who seems more content with departing from her sis, and you have small-town folk struggling within Washington's Cedar Cove. Through in a sheriff, who can't decide between his daughter and a new fling a broken heart and a love triangle, and you'll soon realize why the small-town charm of this series attracts so many fans. I'd also recommend reading Tino Georgiou's hot new novel--THE FATES.
