Book Reviews of 7th Heaven (Women's Murder Club)

Book Review: Is that the best he can do?
Summary: 2 Stars

I like the Woman's Murder Club, but this one... what was Patterson thinking? Instead of making the characters likable and out for justice, he portrays them all as at best stupid, or at worst misguided.

Seriously, after having the facts of the trial case, I can't believe the D.A. took it to court, because it was a loser. There was no evidence beyond a confession that did not match a single bit of evidence.

As far as the other case, it took a chance bit of evidence to provide a lead, and then a suspect. Not exactly stellar work on the front of the major characters.

In short, the Woman's Murder Club was a dismal failure throughout the entire novel. Lousy evidence, shoddy police work, and overzealous district attorneys. Yeah, the club should be allowed to make mistakes, but this was an abortion beyond their established characters. They knew better than this travesty of justice.

Summary: 3 Stars

Well now...James Patterson has proceeded to move into yet another "Women's Murder Club" venture. This time he has a co-author, which makes me wonder if he's about drained of his own thoughts. I don't know who wrote this book...Patterson or Maxine Paetro. Anyway, it's fairly good.
Seems as though a youngish prosty was accused of letting a heart-damaged guy lose his virginity. Supposedly he died in her arms. She calls boyfriend (Who in their right mind would let a prostitute become a "girlfriend"?) and they dismember and remove the body parts...blah, blah, blah. The DA member of the Women's Murder Club group tries the prosty and loses...because of no body, etc.
Anyway, the finish does -- finally -- tie it all together. (I'll not reveal it. Go ahead and buy the darn book!

Book Review: Burning Desire
Summary: 4 Stars

Two themes run through this latest in this--the seventh--in the Women's Murder Cub series. First are a series of murder-robbery-arsons for which there are no clues except a Latin inscription each time in a book. And then there is the disappearance of the son of a former governor of California as to which there are also no clues.

Clueless but intense, Sgt. Lindsay Boxer and her partner pursue both cases. When a tip leads them to a young prostitute with whom the young man was last seen, they get a "confession" from her about his death. The girl is brought to trial by ADA Yuki Castellano, another member of "the Club."

As with previous entries in the series, the writing is fluid, plotting tight and developing step-by-step to the conclusion. It is a very enjoyable, fast-moving read.

Book Review: Fantastic
Summary: 5 Stars

I had been waiting for this entry into the series for a while and was not the least bit disappointed! Talk about quick moving. I don't appreciate slow stories that take a while to get going. This one gets your heart pumping from the first pages until the very last. Each and every character is well developed and you enter their world as if it is your own. I found myself wanting to skip ahead so many times and had to force myself not to. This is the writing style of old for Patterson, the only thing I could have wanted more, would be that it lasted longer. It felt short, but when you want the answers so much, as I did in this story, you kind of are happy the ending comes a bit quick.

Book Review: Very disappointed
Summary: 1 Stars

I've been a fan of The Women's Murder Club series for a long time and did enjoy each book, however, James Patterson's new one, 7th Heaven, is a big disappointment. There was no character substance. There was basically 2 stories going on in this book; one was about a missing rich kid and the other story of 2 kids who started fires and killed people. Both stories had no depth and both were uninteresting. As I was reading this book, I had hoped the stories would develop more and get more interesting, but both were flat. It felt like James Patterson just was in such a rush to get another Women's Murder Club book out, he threw it together with no thought.
It's a good thing I didn't buy this book and got it from the library!
Save your money and don't buy this book
