Book Reviews of A Cedar Cove ChristmasBook Review: very Merry Christmas romp Summary: 4 Stars
On Christmas Eve, pregnant Mary Jo Wyse comes to Cedar Cove, Washington seeking the father of her unborn David Rhodes. There are no commercial accommodations available in town, but Grace and Cliff Harding allow Mary Jo to sleep in the loft of their stable.
When Mary Jo goes into labor, paramedic Mack McAfee attends to her. The three Wyse men, her bumbling brothers (Linc, Mel and Ned) arrive to help their sister. Meanwhile Mary Jo has decided that instead of confronting David, who she has not found, she would prefer to be held by kindhearted Mack. However she doubts even this nice EMT would want to get involved with a woman who has just given birth.
A CEDAR COVE CHRISTMAS is an amusing and angst account of the Christmas saga with Puget Sound serving as the locale instead of Bethlehem; as a stable is still a stable when it comes to hospitality for a pregnant woman. The cast is solid but it is the visitor Mary Jo who provides the anxiety, focus and equilibrium to the plot. Fans will relish Debbie Macomber's latest very Merry Christmas romp.

Book Review: Sweet Summary: 4 Stars
This is actually the 9th book in the Cedar Cove series by Debbie Macomber. While it may be read and enjoyed as a standalone Christmas novel, it is part of the series and should be read before "92 Pacific Boulevard" for folks reading the series in order.
A sweet and simple Christmas story, it mirrors many of the events of the original Christmas story. A heavily pregnant woman arrives in Cedar Cove looking for the father of her unborn child. There is no room for her to stay the night so she ends up in a family's apartment which is located over their barn - which is housing all the animals from their church's live nativity scene which concluded the evening before. The woman's brothers (the three Wyse men) follow her to Cedar Cove concerned for her safety.
A quick, easy read that is great for the holiday season. Sweet and light are the best words to describe this short and simple book. It may to be sugary for some, but I think most people who purchase Christmas books will find it enjoyable.
Book Review: amateurish and dull Summary: 1 Stars
When I read the blurb on the book cover I thought it might be a nice Christmas read, but I was very disappointed to find it so predictable and lackluster. I don't like such shallow, predictable characters. Mary Jo's brothers are in their 30's and act like the three stooges. I found it hard to believe that three guys who run a successful business could be so inept at finding their way around and taking on a simple task like driving to Cedar Cove to find their sister. And I realize they are being protective of her, but she is 24 years old--a little old, I thought, for them to treat her like a preschooler. I should probably mention that I have read a few other Debbie Macomber books and really don't like them very well--for the same reason I didn't care for this one. The plots seem so thin to me, and even though there are some nice supporting characters, I found it dull. I couldn't wait for it to be over. Sorry, those of you who really like this author. I just don't care for her stuff.
Book Review: One of my favorite authors. Summary: 3 Stars
Although her baby's father is supposed to be in Cedar Cove at Christmas time, Mary Jo discovers he is not, meaning she's a stranger alone with nothing in town at the holidays. Fortunately, Cedar Cove is the kind of old fashioned town that helps others and she soon finds herself taken into the warm embrace of the Harding family. Ironically, she finds herself in a spare room over the stable and in labor on Christmas Eve night. She is even visited by three Wyse men, her brothers, but most special of all is the way she brings hope and promises of a better future of one certain young man.
*** Warmth and love pervade every page of this sweet story that brings to mind the true spirit of Christmas and a cozy feeling in your heart. Christmas almost requires a Debbie Macomber novel, and this one does not fail the readers in any respect. ***

Book Review: Charming Christmas story Summary: 4 Stars
A young, unmarried girl named Mary Jo comes to Cedar Cove in search of the father of her child. He is nowhere to be found, but some people she meets give her a place to stay because there is no room for her in the Inn. In the barn where she is staying are a camel, donkey, sheep and other animals which have been used for the town's annual nativity scene. Hot on her trail are her brothers, the three Wyse men. Although this book could have been merely corny, it turns out to be a warm and charming "take off" of the original Christmas story. Debbie Macomber fans will enjoy the story and the beginnings of a romance between a new character and one who has appeared in this series before.
