Book Reviews of A+ Certification All-in-One Exam GuideBook Review: Book Was Over My Head........ Summary: 2 Stars
I'm a software trainer who wants to become certified as a PC technician. The author claims that this book will be able to teach the novice (non-PC technician) everything he/she needs to know to pass the A+ certification exams. That's a joke. The first few chapters start out fine, and seem to provide explanations that are thorough and clear enough for the novice. But then at some point (right around chapter 6), the author forgets who his audience is and seems to assume we're all working as PC technicians already. His explanations start to get more more vague, and he uses more and more tech jargon and inside jokes that only a tech would get. It's obvious who he's really writing for.
Book Review: Decent, but doesn't cover everything Summary: 4 Stars
I recently took the A+ and used this book to prepare for it. I reviewed the entire book before taking the exam and took all of the practice exams that came with the book, both the ones that were in the book and the ones on the CD included with it. I did pass my A+, but however, I must say that this book did not cover everything in enough detail. Many of the things on my exam were not covered in enough detail, especially upgrading and using the recovery console. The hardware preparation was a bit better, especially the printer section in my opinion. However, the author has a great writing style that keeps you interested in reading instead of boring you to sleep.
Book Review: A Great book for the A+ Study Summary: 5 Stars
A great book that helped me to be A+ Certified. This book dont only give you the test specific info, it reaches beyond that with historical and also beyond A+ material that helps you understand how things really work.
The book is written in a way that made me wantto keep on reading, and it made me understand what happens behind the curtains in the world of hard and software. It makes learning easy. This was especially important because I am swedish, and it is quite hard to read all this information in a language other than your native one.
If you are going to get any book for the exams, get this.
Book Review: Fantastic Read Summary: 5 Stars
Great book! The 5th edition of Mike Meyers All-In-One A+ Certification Exam Guide book is what you need if you want to pass the 2003 A+ Comptia exam. I found the book to be excellent for review of the material necessary to prepare for both the Core and OS portions of the exam. The included CD comes with 3 practice exams and 3 Final exams, which helped me to get a clear idea of what would be expected of me on the actual tests. The 5th edition is also a superb reference guide that is a must for any technical library. I highly recommend it to anyone seriously studying for the A+ Certification tests.
Book Review: A run down of the book Summary: 4 Stars
i got my a+ a while ago all thanks to mike. here is a brief summary:
it does not matter how long you work in the field, if you want to do good on the exam, you need to read a book like this. simply some stuff on the exam you will never encounter.
the book is outstanding on the topics of hardware. however, i felt the book was weak on the operating systems
you could pass the a+ with this book along, but you need to be using windows xp pro for a while to do that. a better way (or the mix i done) was this book and examcram2. it's a winning combo.
