Book Reviews of A Course in Miracles: Combined Volume

Book Review: Essential pointers for those interested in true spiritual freedom
Summary: 5 Stars

Essential pointers for those interested in true spiritual freedom:

Another reviewer, JP, is absolutely correct: "Love cannot be dualistic". This Work is one of those essentials for anyone interested in true freedom. A good companion book: "I Am That", Talks with Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj (I Am That: Talks with Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj).

In all the great traditions, the point is made and underscored that ONLY love is real and all else is the illusion bound by the mental concepts of "time" and "ego - me". This book offers a practical approach to UNDOING the conceptual illusion so that your True Nature can shine without obstruction.

The potency of this course is not to be underestimated. Highly recommended for the sincere seeker of truth.

Charlie Hayes, author of You Are Unborn: Pointers to Your Natural State of Eternal Freedom

There are many good reviews for this book here at Amazon, so I will let those speak for themselves.

I just want to clarify some things.

Book Review: A course in Pschology
Summary: 5 Stars

I have read some misguided reviews in here about this book, I am not going to defend this book as truth doesn't need to be defended against. As with anything else in the world some people will like and others won't, that is the nature of the physical world so there is nothing wrong with that. Allow me to add my views of this book, some call this "new age linbo" I couldn't dissagree more as many of the ideas presented in this book goes back centuries ago. It seems new in its language because it uses pschology(which is new) and intergrated that with a metaphysical frame work on how one should live in the world listening more to our right mind. It's a whole new way of looking at everything; my life, your life, so call good things and bad things. This review is not in any way trying to convince you, it's to shed some light on some miguided reviews that I thought was not based on facts. This book isn't for everyone, just like Christianity and other religions aren't for everyone but that is not reason to judge them unworthy.

Book Review: the one book I'd want on a desert island
Summary: 5 Stars

It's impossible to overstate the profound effect A Course in Miracles has had (and continues to have) on my life. I knew intuitively the moment I held this book in my hands that it's the last teaching I will ever need.

Having said all that, I should probably point out that I would never in a million years have been attracted to A Course in Miracles on my own. Too long, too Christian, too Shakespeare-ish. Too much work! But I was unmistakably Guided to it through Gary Renard's book, The Disappearance of the Universe. Somehow Gary's crazy, powerful book cracked open the door just enough so I could recognize the unimaginable beauty and freedom that awaited me within the pages of the Course itself. And now I can't imagine my life without the teachings of A Course in Miracles.

Book Review: Incomprehensible drivel
Summary: 1 Stars

This book is difficult to understand, page after page. After reading about a quarter of the book I gave up because I could not describe to myself what the author(s) had written up to that point. It was pure gibberish. I consider myself pretty well-read, but I felt like an idiot after reading 25% of ACIM.

If you like extracting and extrapolating great meaning from incomprehensible riddles and then changing your life based on that, you might want to give this book/course a try. But I think spirituality and self-help needs to be clear and easy to understand so everybody can generally agree on what is being taught. ACIM is a failure in this regard, as are many highly regarded spiritual books including the Bible and the Koran. Incomprehensibility and contradictions breed conflict.

I recommend Eckhart Tolle, Jon Kabat-Zinn, Stephen Batchelor, Thich Naht Hanh and Ken McLeod instead; they are consistent and clear in their messages.
