Despite my gag reflex, I had to read this entire book in a kind of horrified fascination. Did our mothers generation and before actually live, or aspire to live, like this? The information is totally out-of-date and not reflective of todays woman:
How to wear veils - page 196
On being short: "realize that there are many men who simply adore doll-like women and you ought to accentuate your appealing air of 'a little bird fallen from its nest.' Be delicate, extremely meticulous in your grooming, scatter-brained, tender-hearted and helpless. Men will want to protect you thoughout your life..." page 75
It's apparently horribly crass to wear sandles in the city, drop earrings in daytime, wear diamonds before 30 and to wear shoes over 2-1/2" tall. Ever.
Written in 1964 and supposedly updated in 2004. I can't see where. This book tells how to pack for a "sea voyage" and to not "tug at your girdle".
OMG!!! I'm free, FREE, REALLY FREEEEEE! I'm so glad to live in modern times. But sorry I wasted money on this relic of history.
