I have never been to A16 in SF but I have bought 6 copies of this cookbook as gifts and bought one for myself. I love the style and ease of the recipes. Off the beaten track food but not so complicated that you want to throw your hands in the air. I also recommend James Patterson's and Frank Stitt's cookbooks. And Ad Hoc. this book is a must for anyone who loves southern Italian cooking, it contains a wealth of gorgeous recipes and an exhaustive list of southern Italian wines, besides great photos and background information that would be hard to find even in Italy.
