Book Reviews of Accidentally Yours

Book Review: Humorous and heart tugging at the same time
Summary: 4 Stars

With a son dying of a rare disease and the clock ticking for finding a cure, Kerri Sullivan does what any desperate mother would do - blackmail a billionaire into donating money to fund the research. Once Nathan King is reluctantly on board, he insists that Kerri assist him in getting the permits for his flagship condo towers in return, to prove to the citizens of Seattle that the billionaire has a heart after all. But Nathan doesn't count on losing his newly found heart to the feisty widow, nor does she since she has made a pact with God to give up a personal life to insure her son survives the same disease that killed Nathan's son. With the media at their tales, an absent minded scientist racing against fate to find a cure, and an estranged sister out for vengeance, the duo has their work cut out for them.

Mallery's latest novel combines witty dialogue, romance, and humor to tell a heart-tugging story of survival, with a mother's undying love at the forefront. It'll have you laughing and crying simultaneously. Definitely one of her better novels - right up there with my personal favorite, "Falling for Gracie."

Book Review: "Accidentally Yours" -- you'll laugh, you'll cry, and you'll believe
Summary: 5 Stars

"Accidentally Yours" is the story of Kerri Sullivan, a woman facing almost insurmountable odds. Kerri's son, Cody, has been diagnosed with an incurable and terminal disease. The only researcher tackling Cody's disease has abandoned his research due to an accident in the lab. Kerri knows she must secure funding to persuade the researcher to get back to work; she decides to use her determination and her daring to persuade local billionaire Nathan King to write a check for a few dollars. Fifteen million, as a matter of fact.

Nathan King's son died from the same disease. He is determined to not get involved. With anyone. Especially not with a mom gutsy enough to transform herself into a superhero to give her son courage, and most especially not with the son that touches his heart as well.

I've read many of Susan's books. I've never read anything like "Accidentally Yours". It came from somewhere special. There is magic in these pages. Magic, humor, a few tears, and a wonderful story.

I hope you'll love it as much as I do.

Book Review: I Was A Blubbering Mess Thanks To This Book!
Summary: 5 Stars

Susan Mallery has written some truly wonderful material over the years, but THIS was her masterpiece. I was prepared to despise Nathan along with the rest of the world for his cold and calculating personality, but Mallery pulled the rug out from under me. Her characters were so three dimensional and fleshed out. Kerri was a strong, gutsy woman struggling to be the perfect single Mother. A woman willing to give her very life for her dying child. I loved the 'Pretty Woman' aspect of this story. Low budget meets high stratosphere. Not quite an attainable goal for most of us in the real world, but a fun fantasy all the same. But what absolutely made me shake with tears was the desperation she displayed in clinging to faith. For everyone who has ever loved and lost with a grief that can rip your very soul apart, this book comforts that for every heartache we experience in life, there are just as many miracles. This book touched me on every level. I have rarely experienced that with a romance novel. Forget the five stars. This story earned a perfect 10.

Book Review: Wonderful!
Summary: 5 Stars

This was a great book. What made it especially great was the heroine. She was so well written - strong, witty, stand-up-for-herself and her son, yet vulnerable. The hero was, at times, cold, brash, unfeeling, but she never let him gat away with it with her. She brought his heart back to life.

This book was good on many levels. The hero's relationship, past and present, with his sister. The heroine's son's ordeal. The heroine's reluctance to experience life for herself out of fear for her son. It was a just a great Susan Mallery book. I had stopped reading her after starting the Buchanan series book 1 and not finishing it. Looks like I'll have to go back and read what I've missed from her.

Book Review: Worth a Read
Summary: 4 Stars

It's not the best romance you'll ever read, but Accidentally Yours is enjoyable enough to warrant a purchase. The premise: a struggling, widowed mother is searching for a cure to her son's illness and approaches a billionaire for money. The mother (Kerri) and the billionaire (Nathan) find themselves interested in more than just a worthy cause, and spend a lot of time getting to know one another and each others' circumstances. Although the book was a bit too fairty-taleish for me, I did enjoy the unique storyline and the romance between the two characters - it was mature and believable. Unfortunately, it took a really long time for the lead characters to actually hook up.. but, it was worth it.
