Book Reviews of Adobe Photoshop CS3 Classroom in a BookBook Review: Photoshop cs3 classroom in a book Summary: 5 Stars
Since I have rarely worked with Photoshop, this book was perfect for getting to know the tools and how they worked. Each lesson was step by step; you were given an image of the end result and the pieces to start with. I will be hanging on to this book as a reference for the finer details that I will not work with on a daily basis.
Book Review: Adequate but not stellar. Summary: 4 Stars
The "Classroom in a book" series including this one are adequate introductions to the software but not great. They are lacking in some of the basic details and cover the more complex details in an adequate but not great way. You feel obliged to buy them because they are
Adobe products but Adobe could do better.....I hope.
Book Review: A duplicate of the same book for CS2 Summary: 2 Stars
I was very disappointed to find that this book contained the exact same lessons as Adobe Photoshop CS2 Classroom in a book, modified slightly to allow for CS3's new features. I would expect that in a revision to a textbook but not in a training series. The lessens themselves are good if you're doing them for the first time.
Book Review: pages missing Summary: 1 Stars
Entire pages (specifically, pages 147-162) are referenced in the index, but are absent from the book! And it doesn't look like someone just tore the pages out. The pages are just not there. Also, as mentioned by other reviewers, this book is NOT for those who have been using Photoshop for at least a couple years.
Book Review: Disappointing Summary: 1 Stars
I knew better than to buy this book but since Kelby's book has been delayed I talked myself into it. I prefer the books that say "this is how you do X, and this is how you do Y". I admit that this is largely a learning style preference but the book has been put on a shelf and will probably never be opened again.
