First let me say I'm not a writer. But Adobe Photoshop CS3 One-On-One by Deke McClelland is the best book I've come across. I have of other books that teach you one on one but no other one teach in a simple clear out line. first we read the lesson, then we which the video presentation(10-15 mins.). Then we work through the lesson. The best part of it is you can do the lesson at your own pace(a hour or a day).
Deke has also given you the same art for you to follow along and to see if yours look as good as his.
These is one book that you need for you library.
Its Great
Book Review: Cool, I know photoshop! Summary: 5 Stars
This is a cool book.
I'm in a small business class, and we are learning how to create ads, and setup blogs.
I run a small business selling flowers, and I have always wanted to create my own advertisements.
Bad thing is, photoshop is incomprehensible. I just did not get it.
now with this book, I DO get it. I love Deke, I think he is amazing, I love how this book takes you by the hand and shows you how to do stuff.
I now know photoshop. Could not be happier. Buy this book and buy it now.
And Deke, if you're reading this, please write a book on designing advertisements. And keep including videos, its the best thing since sliced bread!
Book Review: Great book for newbees Summary: 5 Stars
This book provides a great hands on approach to Photoshop. It does include a CD tutorial walk through of the program for you covering each chapter. What is also great is he will require you to watch the cd first, so you can get an idea of what your going to do later on. I really didnt any trouble going through the lessons. I do feel some of the lessons will cause some frustration for newbees, but for what you get out of it, its worth it. What is also a great asset to the book is that he gives you what he calls "extra credit", which is just an ability to improve more in the lesson that you've covered. So get this book if you are new to photoshop and want to learn some cool features.
Book Review: Great Place to Start Summary: 5 Stars
I was a complete noob to Photoshop. I had zero, zip, zilch, nada, no exerience using Photoshop. This was the first book I read on the subject. It got me started immediately using Photoshop. Deke McClelland's watch, read, do approach to Photoshop worked wonders for me. Watch the video, read the lesson, follow the step by step instructions. It is a great introduction to Photoshop and, will prepare you for more advanced techniques. Although, it also includes more than a few tricks and, secrets that even experienced Photoshop users might not know. I have been using Photoshop for about a year now and, I still often refer to this book. Worth every penny of the cost.
Book Review: Very good instruction, altho obsolete Summary: 4 Stars
Overall was very helpful and kinda fun with Deke's humor. My main problem with it is the fact that it isn't updated with instruction. By that, I mean that the "BRIDGE", an instrumental part of the software, is no longer supported by Adobe -- they shut it down ... it's no longer available (they say it was due to putting their money elsewhere). I feel that the author should have a revised version to 'work around' the missing "BRIDGE" with other options or solutions in organizing the files of subjects you're working with in Photoshop. Deke can't say enough good about the "BRIDGE", then you discover it's no longer available. Whatta BUMMER!
