Book Review: Can jack and Annie survive the Amazon Rainforest?
Summary: 5 Stars
Synopsis: Jack and Annie visit the Magic Tree House again in order to recover more items to save Morgan from the spell that she is under. This time, upon entering the Tree House, they see a book open about the Amazon rain forest. Annie takes her pet mouse Peanuts with her and they soon find themselves in the rain forest. Will they be able to survive the land of the Amazon? This is not an easy adventure for Jack and Annie, as they find themselves in company of crocodiles, piranhas, vampire bats and jaguars. Can they find what they are looking for and go back to their own time in one piece?
Review: I thought this was a much better book than the previous ones, because it was so different from them. I thought it was a nice change that Jack was actually looking forward to going on the adventure, and Annie was not because she did not like to be around bugs. What was also interesting was that this was the first book I read from the series, where Jack and Annie were not in the company of any other person to help them, or that they had to stay away from, in order to complete their task. It was just their adventure in their rain forest and how they survive it, and learn from it. It was also nice to see that the item that they were trying to recover to save Morgan, was something that very ordinary, which I thought was nice.
The book also provides nice facts about the Amazon River and the Rain Forest, and about different animals that live in them. The illustrations by Sal Murdocca add well to the book, especially the ones where Jack stops Annie from jumping out of the Tree House, or when they spot the jaguars.
Overall, I really enjoyed this book in the series over others because of how different it was, and I recommend it to anyone who likes reading the series.
