Book Reviews of All Cats Have Asperger Syndrome

Book Review: Excellent starting point
Summary: 5 Stars

My son is has Asperger's. My family were struggling to understand what this meant and which of his behaviours were a result of the condition - this book helped clearly explain to them that some of his behaviours they see as "naughty" are not, they are simply a part of the condition. The book is presented in a cute, non-threatening way, which helps the simple information be absorbed - no medical terms, no acronyms - just the basics. I wouldn't show this to my son, I doubt he would like it but I am showing to all the adults in his life who want to understand; it is a good way to open discussion; I have had nothing but "thanks" & "now I get it" from them.

Book Review: So I'm a cat! Lol
Summary: 5 Stars

What a gem of a book! With few and simple sentences the author manages to explain what it's like to have AS in an easy to grasp way. The result is an informative book which in few pages basically say the same as many experts need hundreds of pages to express. This book is full of charm and humour. The concept may seem childish, the result is not. "All cats have Asperger syndrome" both managed to make me smile as well as giving me a lump in my throat.

I very much recognised myself in this one.

This is an excellent read for anyone who deals with Aspies, in the family or at work/school, and a must read for all Aspies.

Book Review: Sweet, Informative
Summary: 4 Stars

This book seemed like such a bizarre idea that I just had to own it. But when I read it, I found that the concept worked well. I really enjoyed it, and my mom loved it, too. It does a fairly good job of explaining how Aspies are different, without implying that there's anything wrong with them. I also like how it spoke to the strengths of people with AS. Educational doesn't have to mean totally serious--when people are laughing, they are listening. My only problem with the book is that it only uses male pronouns. A small thing, sure, but most AS resources are targeted towards boys, and it's easy for Aspie girls to feel left out.

Book Review: Fabulous Book!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

What a great picture book with an extraordinary description/overview of AS!!! This book is wonderful for teaching children (and adults) a little about the traits and characteristics of cats, err... people, with autism/AS. Would also be perfect for explaining his/her syndrome to a child/teen with high-functioning AS! I highly, highly recommend this book be part of the library of every special education and general education/inclusion teacher and be read by every parent of a child with AS - even better if the reader happens to have cats or be familiar with cats!!!! Just a perfect and fun tongue-in-cheek overview of Asperger's Syndrome!

Book Review: All Cats have Aspergers - An Explanation for Everyone
Summary: 5 Stars

Unlike a lot of conditions, Aspergers isn't something that can be detected by scans. It is basically a collection of attributes which actually differ in strength and in presence from one person to another. "All Cats Have Asperger Syndrome" basically bypasses all of the technical stuff and attempts to cover each of the symptoms with a one or two line answer and an appropriate picture.

It's surprisingly detailed and accurate while still being a book you can read in under 30 minutes. It's suitable for explaining aspergers to relatives, parents, friends and school children.

Every aspie should have a copy.
