Book Reviews of Amazing Grace

Book Review: Another Disappointing Read
Summary: 2 Stars

This book had a promising start. The introduction promised a compelling storyline, but like Steel's most recent books, I got to the end and wondered what happened to the great story I was promised?
I have been an avid fan of Danielle Steel since I was about 14 years old and started reading my great-aunt's romance novels when I ran out of my own literature to read. I've been hooked ever since. Her books invoke every emotion under the sun. They've made me laugh, cry, angry, frustrated, joyous...you name it.

Her new books just aren't cutting it anymore. They've left me feeling disappointed and wanting more. I'd even go as far as to say it doesn't even feel like it's one of her novels. I love her older novels, and I will read them over and over because they are that amazing. And I will be a fan of her's forever, because when Steel was good, she was THE best. But her recent novels have been an utter disappointment.

Book Review: A Pleasent Read
Summary: 3 Stars

On a night that should be perfect and Earthquake shakes the city of San Francisco and the lives of three women who are successful but somewhat unfulfilled. Sarah Sloan, Melanie Free and Maggie Kent are sent on a new journey after the rubble settles in the city. All three of their lives are turned upside down and they have to face things that they never thought possible. Each looking for a way to live life with Amazing Grace.

As a long time fan of Ms. Steele, I found this read pleasant but not as endearing as some of her other titles. Amazing Grace delves into three very different woman in three very different places in their lives. The way they deal with tragedy, life altering circumstances are by turns inspiring and almost predictable. As I stated before this is a nice read but if you are looking for an emotional heart tugging read you may find yourself a little let down here.

Book Review: Entertaining start but sloppy finish.
Summary: 5 Stars

I have been a fan of Steele's for years, and consider her books a guilty pleasure. I don't pick up one of her novels in hopes of reading great literature. With that said I have to agree with the other reviewers that this is not her best effort. I give it three stars as if you're a fan you'll still want to read the book but it is going to leave you a little hungry. This time out the story revolves around a San Francisco bay area earth quake and how it effects the lives of three successful, and of course beautiful woman. The story starts off strong and quickly pulled me in, but I thought it lost focus towards the end. The typical Steele Romance is there but I did not feel connected to the characters. This is one you may want to wait for paperback.

Book Review: Not a great book for me
Summary: 1 Stars

I decided to give another try to Danielle Steel's books and checked out "Amazing Grace". It did start out nice and smooth but then after a few pages I noticed that it is filled with a lot of unnecessary detail.

I continued reading, reminding myself that Steel is a bestselling author and there "will be more", only to find more pages about nothing. There it went like this: "the time was one thirty five and Sarah did this, then it was one forty five and Sarah did this" and so on for quiet awhile.

I could not read beyond 30 pages. This book is full of repetitious phrases and words and for me it was utterly monotonous and boring.

Book Review: great novel
Summary: 5 Stars

This novel of Danielle Steele is one of her best stories. The two people who become involved in starting a refugee camp for the survivors of the quake and the female is a nun and the male is a reporter and they become more involved than just helping people, which the nun goes through very difficult decisions that she must make in her life and they are life changing decisions.
