Book Reviews of Anastasia (The Ringing Cedars, Book 1)

Book Review: cultural context important~
Summary: 4 Stars

I am up to book 7 of the series, and can understand some others' frustrations with the writing style. Vladimir, the author, is one person, Anastasia is another. Vladimir gets annoying, as he has no spiritual background and so doesn't understand some of the things that Anastasia tells him. But there are enough footnotes and mention of real people that I am convinced that Anastasia is a real person. If you read the books with that in mind, she is an amazing person and they are worth reading to see an example of what the full human potential really is. She also has some good pointers for people to realize the full potential of their gardens and home spaces. Her points on raising kids are highly important and something I haven't come across in standard U.S. spiritual books.

The books are from Russia and they describe a spiritual awakening happening in Russia. Some of it is not completely relevant to the U.S., but it was interesting to read just for that glimpse of spiritual awakening happening in other parts of the globe. Americans are notorious for being ignorant of anything happening anywhere else - here's your chance to remedy that! It could well happen that America loses its place as 'super-power', in which case these teachings may become more relevent. These books bring us back to a life that is love.

My main complaint about this series of books is that to really get anything out of them, you need to read at least half of the series. The price tag adds up - an abridged version where you could get more of just Anastasia and less of Vladimir in one or two volumes would be a better value.

I also had a problem with the 'everything is for Man's benefit' theme - I don't see the reason for mosquitos and wasps, for one thing!! But I think her point is that Man is a powerful creative force, and with great power comes great responsibility. As Barbara Hand Clow says, Man is keeper of the 3rd Dimension. Anastasia show us what that can look like.

Book Review: Too Over-the-top for higher consciousness
Summary: 1 Stars

I'm all-into reading about personal treks that raise one's consciousness - and sharing that story with the world. I read less than half the first book about Vladimir's journey into Siberia where he meets a young beautiful woman named Anastasia, who having lost her parents at an early age, hence resounding more acutely with nature than most, sets about teaching Vladimir the secrets of life. The book starts out well with Vladimir's curious questions and Anastasia's insightful answers. But I feel it's going too far into fantasy when Anastasia tells a bear to keep Vladimir warm at night, does flips through the air not only forward and back, but sideways too, and swings like an ape around tree branches with one arm. Giving the benefit of the doubt, I read on. The point at which I closed the book was when the two of them are lying in the grass looking at the sky and Vladimir reaches over to fondle Anastasia's breast. It continues with Vladimir wanting Anastasia to give him the son he never had. C'MON!!! Give me a freakin' break. If that's what consciousness-raising is all about, all we have to do is look at society. I wanted this book series to be of real intrigue to me since there are nine books - what a great venture of reading that would be! I considered that maybe after this unbelievable moment, maybe the story would prove itself in the end. So I skimmed through the book to get a feel of where this was going. When I saw the chapter title 'Who will bring up our son?', I shut the book. I'm not wasting my time on this, there are plenty of other sources out there about taking care of ourselves and our beautiful earth.

Book Review: intriguing fiction or astonishing true story
Summary: 3 Stars

This first in a series of eleven books by Ringing Cedars Press is either intriguing fiction or an astonishing true story. Either way, Anastasia has captured the hearts of millions around the world, selling 10 million copies in Russia simply through word-of-mouth before it was translated into English and 19 other languages.
As the story goes, Author Vladimir Megre, a Russian entrepeneur, was introduced to the phenomenon of the "ringing cedars" while on a trade trip to the Siberian taiga. On a subsequent trip he is compelled to seek out the harbingers of this message and instead finds himself spending three days with a beautiful, magical young woman who lives alone in the deep forest. She not only lives an idyllic life unsupported by any conventional resources, she imparts great wisdom about practical matters of the world which she "sees" remotely. Anastasia also prophesies that the author will return and write this series; and perhaps more significantly, that the books would be encoded with transformative energy that would raise readers' spirits.
Indeed, I found myself drawn to keep reading, and indeed, I had feelings of optimistic well-being as I read. However, that's as far as the impact went for me. I would hazard a guess that perhaps the overwhelming response to this book is more of a culturally-specific indicator of a global movement; Russia letting loose into its own literary version of a new consciousness.
Definitely worth reading--and who knows, maybe it does hold a hidden gem of secrets and insights that will shape a new paradigm for our planet's future.

Book Review: Interesting read
Summary: 4 Stars

I quite enjoyed Anastasia. I had seen it advertised in 'Nexus' magazine and thought it would be a good book for me as I am always trying to better myself and expand myself spiritually. So I read it with an open mind.

I wont summarize the story as I am sure you already know the rough outline from many others.

I think most readers will question its factual claims as some of the wonderful things that Anastasia is meant to be able to do push our limits of understanding of the way reality works.

However you take this book it does give you things to think about. If you are trying to understand the world and you want some guidance in your life it certainly gets you thinking in a more positive way.

I have to say that part of me remains sceptical towards the whole thing but I have started reading the second book. Its the kind of book that even if you don't believe in it, it cant do you any harm.

Practically some of her suggestions for the way life should be are difficult to achieve and even on a personal level, I love my life the way it is and would not want to give up everything I have to return back to nature. Having said that, I have only started on the journey of understanding all she has to say so maybe I will be convinced in the end - I will keep you posted when I have finished the next book!

If you like stories and have an open mind to what reality truly is then I recommend reading it. If you are a sceptical person I don't think you will like it much!

Book Review: Uhmmmm....
Summary: 1 Stars

So basically I wasted 10 dollars plus an expedited shipping fee for the newest form of snake oil on print. This book erm..."took advantage" of me. After seeing such amazing reviews from people I look(ed) up to on youtube and in general, I was excited and had an open mind as to what I was going to read about. Basically it was explained to me as a story of a man who encounters a woman who is living wild, and the lessons he has learned from her...But after chapter 7, I started getting a little peeved at the author's presumptuous idea that we would believe this crap. Anastasia apparently can repair UFO's, has met aliens, can catapult off trees and rocks like a world class gymnast, and has animals bring her nuts. Also, she tames wolves, bears, and squirrels. Oh I forgot. She also could help Man perfect the "primitive" computer....
Okay...Also, upon looking for a picture of this "superbeing" I found this picture of a catalog model's face, clearly photoshopped. They say it's the "only known picture" of this sasquatch-like woman...Apparently she "was intrigued by the makeup our women wear" and it states the picture has been "touched up".

Yeah I might be a little gullible, and maintain the idea of my naivety, but this is clearly an untalented wannabe author's fight for the mighty dollar...

Will you be ordering any special cedar oil, nuts, or magic cedar necklaces online? Because they are for sale.
