Book Review: Variety is the spice of life!

Many years ago, I had tried and made a few cheeses. Recently, I got the bug again and wanted to try to make a variety of cheeses, and especially try some of the mold cheeses. I am so glad I bought this book. Simple step-by-step instructions made it as easy as possible. I have made seven cheeses from this book so far and each was wonderful. You have not had real cheese until you can make it fresh yourself.Book Review: good companion to Home Chese Making

I found that this book was great in conjunction with Home Cheese Making - I found that to be a little more specific than my style, and this was a little more relaxed. I don't think this book is good as a primary resource, but paired with another book or sources on the internet, it's great!
It's true that there were some typos, but I was prepared for them after reading other reviews here.

I really like this book because it has a lot of different cheeses, both hard and soft and mold and bacteria ripened cheeses like Blue, Stilton, Camembert. It tell what items one needs and that some items we already have in our kitchens. How to prepare starter, aging and using. We have made cheese since the 70's but wanted to learn how to make more varieties and I am so glad we bought this book...

The recipes in this book seemed longer than my other cheese book. Actually, they are not longer, they are just explained in regular English. With this book, your first cheese can be Swiss, Cheddar or Pepper Jack; no practice needed! This author did not take shortcuts and explains each recipe step-by-step. All of the popular cheeses are listed as well as a few you've probably never tried.Book Review: Wowie Zowie!

I "rented" this from the library and HAD to own it. Believe it or not.... this was FUN! Try it yourself and see. If you have children, this book will be especially fun as all kids love cheese and it's a learning experience too! Everything we have made so far was tasty -- you won't believe you made this in your own kitchen! Better than any grocery store!
