Book Reviews of Astronomy Hacks: Tips and Tools for Observing the Night SkyBook Review: Excellent Introduction to the Hobby of Astronomy Summary: 5 Stars
Astronomy Hacks is a comprehensive guidebook to the hobby of astronomy. The Thompsons are longtime amateur astronomers and organizers of a local astronomy group. Their experience in astronomy shows right through this book. The book is divided into 65 "hacks" such as how to choose the right binoculars and what to look for in a general purpose telescope. Other hack subjects include how to stay warm, how to recognize hypothermia and the constellations.
About the book's only drawbacks are the lack of depth and detail in informing readers how to read sky charts and what to look for in deciding just what sky atlas to buy.
Book Review: Useful Astronomy Tips Summary: 5 Stars
This is a good book to read if you are starting out in astronomy and are beginning to purchase your equipment. It will lead you down the correct path to make wise decisions, just keep in mind that there is many other brand name equipment to choose from other than what is stated in the book. They do mention this after giving a brand name preference, do your homework. The tips are vary helpful and are almost required when purchasing an Asian dob. I like how the book explains how to avoid inferior equipment and give a wiser choice. This book will enhance the novice's enjoyment of amateur astronomy.

Book Review: Lots of information Summary: 5 Stars
Astronomy Hacks is one of those books which covers a wide range of topics, from the beginner to expert. It is one of the few that succeeds.
For the beginner, it gives lots of good advise on getting started in astronomy. Not just what equipment to buy, but also how to be a good astronomer. For the intermediate astronomer, lots of good tips (hacks) on improving your equipment and technique. And for the expert, excruciating detail on some complicated topics.
Astronomy Hacks is not a guide to finding stars, but will certainly help you become a better astronomer, I know it did for me.
Book Review: Excellent Book Summary: 5 Stars
This book provides a lot of good information for the novice to intermediate astronomer. As someone who is looking to buy a telescope, this book has given me the information I need to decide which model to get. Also I know a lot more about what to do with a telescope once I get it. I suspect that a lot of the information on subjects like how to collimate a telescope might be suitable for more than just the novice audience.
In a world full of books for dummies, Astronomy Hacks is really astronomy for intelligent people who may not know much about the subject yet.
Book Review: A great astronomy resource Summary: 5 Stars
I've always had an interest in astronomy but have never really indulged myself. Recently my young son has become interested in the stars and wanted to purchase a telescope. So when I came across Astronomy Hacks I was especialy interested. I found the book to be very helpful. It is simple enough to help satisfy my son's budding interest and at the same time it is advanced enough to keep me interested. It is full of useful "hacks" and will certainly be great resource for lots of folks. I plan to purchase additional copies as gifts for friends and family.
