Book Reviews of Astronomy Hacks: Tips and Tools for Observing the Night SkyBook Review: A good astronomy book Summary: 5 Stars
Living as I do in the London suberbs it is rare to see a single star in the sky. Imagine my surprise therefore when I stepped out of my sisters house one still winter night a few years ago. She lives far from any light pollution and the entire sky was filled with stars. So my interest in the night sky was born.
This book by Robert Bruce Thompson and his wife gives many excellent tips both for the casual astronomer like me and for those with deeper interests. I enjoyed especially the hacks on urban astronomy and using binoculars.
Book Review: Astronomy Hacks Summary: 5 Stars
Astronomy Hacks is highly recommended for those who are just starting out in visual astronomy or those who want a review of amateur astronomy basics. The book has chapters covering telescope types, eyepiece choices, resources for finding astronomical objects, and tips on making viewing the heavens more enjoyable.
The authors go into detail on using, modifying, and maintaining Dobsonian telescopes; the best value in telescopes for this purpose.
Those who use this book will not be disappointed.

Book Review: Excelent Book Summary: 5 Stars
I've wanted to put in my 2 cents months ago but too busy putting this stuff to use. Great book! Practical knowledge from 2 people that have been using scopes for years. If you own a newtonian reflector they have a whole section mostly deticated to this type of scope. I cannot begin to say that it is loaded with everyday tips, no brainers, that can be used by everyone. It is chock full of knowledge that is simple, but may take you weeks to think of the same thing, why reinvent the wheel get this book!
Book Review: A great collection for new & experienced users alike Summary: 5 Stars
This is a great collection of astronomical tidbits, that both beginners, and more advanced observers will find useful. I am a "mid-level" observer myself. This book contained clear explanations of many of the tips and tricks I had already heard of, and several new ones. I kinda like the format, which breaks things into a series of "hacks", making for easy reading and reference. This is not a book you will read once, but rahter one you will reach for over and over. Reccommended.
Book Review: Belongs in Every Backyard Astronomer's Library Summary: 5 Stars
65 Astronomy "Hacks" for everything from collimating your telescope to dark adapting your vehicle. I like the concise way the authors convey their tips and tricks, and especially the overall format of the book. Not only is there a helpful index, but the tips and tricks (hacks) are also cross-referenced to related hacks. The skill level is also indicated for each hack.
I think it would be a good book for beginners as well as advanced backyard astronomers.
