Book Reviews of Audition: A Memoir

Book Review: Stop the guilt, Barbara.
Summary: 5 Stars

Audition is one of the finest autobiographies that I have read in a long time. Barbara Walters tells us just about everything about her life as the child of Lou Walters, who owned the famous night club, The Latin Quarter, to her famous interviews, the ones she liked to do and the ones that caused her pain. She is a broadcast pioneer and when one thinks of the ultimate in broadcast journalism or entertainment, her name always comes up. Such a heart warm, tell all book. Highly recommended.

Book Review: Manipulator
Summary: 1 Stars

Babara Walters is a mean-spirited creature.
It's very tacky of her to write about an affair with a former senator who is now very old like her. In her long life, she has failed to learn how to be decent and kind to other people's feelings.
After reading this book, I realized how meaningless her existence is.
She is an old mean bully in fashionable clothes.
This book is a waste of time and money.

Book Review: Very Interesting
Summary: 4 Stars

You don't have to be a Barbara Walters fan to enjoy this book. I've always admired Ms. Walters as she was a trailblazer for women in serious television. I found her life story and her insight on her many interviews of personalities very interesting. I, too, have seen the regression of public preferences from interviews of serious international subjects to the fluff of entertainment people, and find that sad.

Book Review: Walters is a great journalist, not a great writer
Summary: 2 Stars

It seems as if Barbara Walters didn't want to leave out any details in writing this long book. But the main thing she doesn't say about her life that I wanted to know was how and what she was thinking as she interviewed the world's most famous people. She lays it out like a catalog, but it lacks true insight and feeling.
