Book Reviews of Backyard BBQ: The Art of SmokologyBook Review: Good stuff Summary: 3 Stars
The book anit too bad, the instructional content is for the most part common sense. For those with no clue on smoking this is an excellent place to start, no question.
The recipes look great and this is a good resource for ideas.
Realistically this book could have been half the size. Lots of blank pages, double spacing and very short pages made me feel kind of jipped. Hence 3 stars, if it was priced correctly ($9.00+ -) 4 stars.
Book Review: Great book for a beginner... Summary: 5 Stars
While waiting for this book to come in from Amazon, I visited Borders and picked up two other books on BBQ. One was a training course style book on BBQ and the other was written by Dr. BBQ. Between those books and this one, I'd have to say that this one was probably the easiest to read. Very simple, although sometimes redundant, I'd recommend this book for any beginner looking to learn how to BBQ (not grill).
Book Review: Take your Smoking to the next level Summary: 5 Stars
In this book, Chef McPeake details the engineering and art around how to become a true smoker. Even though he gets into the nitty gritty details he still makes it easy for a relatively new smoker trying to take their game to the next level. His dry rubs are sensational as I would recommend buying from him directly instead of making them on your own. Excellent follow up to his other two books.
Book Review: Another good book for backyard bbq.... Summary: 5 Stars
This is another great book for those who want to take the step into real, smoked bbq at home. This book leads the way on taking the step from regular grilling to slow-smoked bbq. It also is just plain good reading for those who like cooking and grilling with smoke, as well as those into spending all day in the backyard making real bbq and driving the neighbors crazy with the aromas.
Book Review: Outstanding book. Summary: 5 Stars
As a "newbie" to the smoking world, I needed a "BASICS" book. This explains tons of terms like what spices & herbs to use on what meats/fish/poultry, the various cuts of meat, types smokers & kid of smoking, types of wood, temps & times to use, water pans, Dry rubs, Sauces etc. It's a wonderful book with excellent "SIMPLE" recipes to get you started. I recommend it highly.
