Book Review: Worth Its Weight in Gold!

I purchased this to have the knowledge of different methods of food preservation at my fingertips, and this has not disappointed! I have already referenced it for freezing green beans and know that I'll be using it even more come next spring. I love all of the different recipes it includes too, and the only thing I'd change about it is having it in hard cover instead of paperback. But I'm going to tape the binder so that it'll stay intact much longer. Love this and can't say enough good about it!Book Review: Exactly what I was looking for!

As a new canner this was exactly what I was looking for. The science (but not too much) behind canning and how to get started. I'm a dozen jars into the year with three batches down and couldn't be happier. The book does need to be read through for all the text on how to can to make sure you do everything (not all steps to proper canning are in every recipe) but if you read the book and follow the recipe's I think you'll come out with some great stuff for you pantry or gift basket!Book Review: Wonderful book

I was so surprised to recive my purchase in less time than promised, and I was so happy to get the 100th Anniversary edition. I like to make jams and jellies and this book has wonderful ideas. It is very easy to read and it has a lot of information. I'm now considering buying a pressure canner to can veggies. It has very good information about other types of food preservation, which I think will save my money. It's a very helpful book for begginers, like me.Book Review: Savvy Shopper

An excellent primer for all the basics of canning and preserving, including some great recipes. (Most basic recipes are included.) Exotic ingredients and/or recipes which are not covered are readily available via the web.
Thoroughly check out prices if being bought through Amazon. It is easy to make the mistake of believing that a purchase through another seller (at 3 times the price) is a different version. - Caveat Emptor!!!
Book Review: Excellent guide for food preservation

I purchased this book with the intent to can excess garden crops. I wanted reliable information as I'd never canned before and didn't want to kill myself with botulism! This book delivered and then some. It has a great introduction section followed by easy-to-follow, trustworthy instructions and recipes. The organization is intuitive, illustrations are great, and as a bonus there's plenty of info about freezing and dehydrating as well.
