Book Review: Tips and Tricks, Invisibilty and Common Sense
Summary: 5 Stars
A lot of what Fallis writes was extremely helpful for me, as I studied to be a private investigator. Many of the methods he describes are common-sense approaches, though insightful to someone who may not have used the techniques before, such as his advice in the chapter entitled "The Paper Trail." However, there are also some outdated sections of the book, and the price ranges listed for some of the equipment he describes are totally outdated (I still have yet to see civilian NVD equipment that ranges higher than $300).
All in all, an excellent read, and extremely useful to the fledgling PI. Especially his advice on not using a bright red Ferrari to tail someone in.

It gives you tips for any decade or century. I am actually reading it a second time as I forgot what it said the first time, but it is WELL worth the read.
It gives you tips on Tailing, Survelliance, The Paper Trail, How One Has To Be An Archaeologist, How To Locate Just About Anybody, Verbal Seduction, Civil Work, Criminal Work, The Amateur Detective and the Commandments of Law, Going High Tech, Gumshoes in Cyberspace and The Ten Most Common Questions.

Prior to purchasing this book several years ago, my interest was minimal in the private investigation field. It was only limited to what I saw on television and in the movies. After reading Be Your Own Detective, not only did my interest peak, but it caused me to change careers and become, My Own Detective.
