Book Reviews of Beekeeping for DummiesBook Review: Great learners guide. Summary: 5 Stars
This book is probably the most important book for anyone new to the hobby. Lots of great information on the entire aspect of beekeeping. It isn't for the person who already knows the general idea of beekeeping though.
It was the first book I read about beekeeping and have found that the only other beekeeping books I would need would be books on detailed information on either medicating or raising queens or something of that nature.
Book Review: This book is very good for any beginner or anyone just interested in beekeeping. Summary: 5 Stars
After you get started you'll soon realize that there is a lot of information not in this book, so I think you'll naturally go out to seek for more knowledge, I know I did! For getting people interested and well informed this is a fantastic resource! Couple this will a membership in a local bee club and a saving account for more books, videos, and magazine subscription and your well on your way in wonderful world of beekeeping!
Book Review: Awesome Summary: 5 Stars
This book is a awesome book for beginners. Step by step instructions that are easy to understand. Great chapter on diseases. Good seasonal chapter that explains what to do, and when to do it. This is a good book to start with but current trends and new news will always be found in bee related periodicals. This book, used as a reference and a few bee magazines should keep any new beekeeper up to date.
Book Review: Good, but... Summary: 3 Stars
This is a good book for the beginner. The text is entertaining and thorough, and the pictures are wonderful.
My only dislike is that the instructions are somewhat dogmatic in parts. RE medicating hives, for instance, we're told that feeding bees antibiotics etc. is no different from innoculations. Actually, they are, and overuse of antibiotics is creating resistant strains of disease.
Book Review: Simple, Educational and Entertaining ....PERFECT! Summary: 5 Stars
I have been contimplating starting bees as a hobby. I ordered the book and couldn't put it down. The author shares his facination with bees and gives straight forward help on all the questions you have. He even addresses things like fear of bees and how to "sell" your neighbors. I loved it! I ordered a hive, equipment, and bees yesterday and I can't wait until they arrive.
