Book Review: Uninspiring Chinese recipes ala Betty Crocker

I bought this book back when I was looking for any Westernized Chinese food cookbooks many years ago. I wish I hadn't bought it, as the recipes and taste are very un-authentic, even from an Americanized Chinese food sort of way. There is one exception in the recipes. There is a recipe for lollipop chicken, which I've found when you use the batter on chicken thigh meat cut into chunks, ends up tasting better than McD's chicken nuggets I'm embarrassed to say - but I don't eat there - if that's any redemption. Maybe I can treat my little nephews with the recipe and I'm sure they will be thrilled. For authentic Westernized Chinese food, check out the Authentic Chinese cookbooks from Wei-Chuan publishing, particularly "Chinese Cuisine" and "Chinese Rice and Noodles: With Appetizers, Soups and Sweets". These two cookbooks includes many of your favorite Chinese Restaurant favorites, but each is authentic, and if you are no slouch in the kitchen will turn out Chinese dishes BETTER than your average local Chinese restaurant (and I'm not talking about PanExp).
