Book Reviews of Betty Crocker's Slow Cooker CookbookBook Review: Very helpful book- even has nutritional information! Summary: 4 Stars
I had to buy this one- I had renewed the library copy once too often. I have four kids and use my slow cooker several times a week. I have found most of the recipes in this book reliable, and love the fact that it has nutritional information on the recipes. I have made about ten of the recipes in here and with one exception (the jambalaya) they have all been good. This isn't gourmet cooking by any stretch of the imagination but it's convenient and better eating than fast food for my family.
Book Review: Slow Cooker Cook Book Summary: 5 Stars
I love this book. Since I received it I have used it several times. In fact I am making the French Onion Soup right now. Everything I've made has been great. My husband's comment about the Scalloped Potatoes and Sausage recipe is that "there just wasn't enough." I highly recommend this book. It does seem to rely a lot on canned soups and premade mixes. But on busy days they are a life saver. I can quickly throw everything in in the morning and come home to a delicious meal.
Book Review: Betty Crocker's Slow Cooker Cookbook Summary: 5 Stars
I had been looking for a cookbook like "the old days" when you threw everything into the slow cooker and turned it on for 8 hours. I found it in this cookbook! Too many slow cooker recipe books demand too much preparation of the ingredients before starting the cooking. This book is wonderful, the recipes are easy and the selection of soups is unlimited. I like being back to "the old days" and using the slow cooker as it was originally intended.
Book Review: some good...some not so good Summary: 3 Stars
I have used this book over the past three weeks. For the most part, the recipes have been good. Not great...but good. However, I recently tried the sun-dried tomato chicken breast recipe and it was awful. The recipe did not use any liquid, which puzzled me from the start. You do need some type of liquid when using a crockpot. I cooked the dish for an hour less than the recipe called for and the chicken was still so tough as to be uneatable.
Book Review: A Sensational Cookbook Summary: 5 Stars
Upon receiving this cookbook I have already tried four recipes which turn out to be amazingly good. My family now picks out the next meal for me to make they love it so much. I love how throughout the whole book it gives simple to read details and tips on leftovers. I have always loved cooking with Betty Crocker recipes you can't go wrong. I highly recommend this bookcook. This is a book to be treasured.
