Book Reviews of Big Mind Big Heart: Finding Your WayBook Review: A MUST HAVE BOOK Summary: 5 Stars
This book is an excellent resource to be read over and over again. I would recomend people getting a few of the DVD's from the [...] website to compliment this book.
I had watched the DVD's once or twice and sort of read the book, but... I followed recomendations on doing the process 2 times a week and things have RADICALLY changed. My meditations are much more effortless and flowing, my inner dialouge has decreased, I'm less compulsive, more stable, calm...
I also recomend people get the Integral Life Practice book or starter kit to boost their practice. Integral theroy is the best thing I've ever encountered.
Book Review: Zen Break Through Summary: 5 Stars
Genpo Roshi has developed amazing techniques described in "Big Mind-Big Heart" to blend the most profound teachings of Zen Buddhism with modern principles of Western psychology. These techniques, as imparted and demonstrated in the book and in the CD, offer personal insight for readers who may have little time or opportunity for extensive practice in meditation and studying the "Dharma", while also helpful to the mindful practioner to assist in personal understanding and development. Genpo Roshi makes Eastern wisdom accessable in a fashion that translates enigmatic or esoteric Eastern knowledge and discernment as to be understood by the Western mind.
Book Review: This book is simple and direct. This book is Zen. Summary: 5 Stars
The beauty of this book is that we are able to acquaint ourselves with the mind of Zen Master Genpo Roshi and see that he is as ordinary as the rest of us non-masters. He uses his own experiences to bring aliveness to a handful of voices, which are part of the 10,000 dharmas (aspects, voices)that make up who we are. Reading this book will allow one to begin the journey of rediscovering oneSelf in a way that is both personal and genuine. Whatever Zen is, I think this book points the way perfectly. When we know our true Self then we can find happiness, love and truth in our lives.
Book Review: Zen for the new millenium Summary: 5 Stars
Ken Wilber has described the Big Mind process as the most advanced technology to have emerged from Buddhism in 2500 years. I definitely agree. Roshi's DVD and book by the same name offer real time tools so that we can all gain illumination and insight that might otherwise take 30-40 years of meditating. Do not let the simplicity of the book's style or the process itself fool you. Working hard and striving does not necessarily mean better results. Big Mind's simplicity speaks directly to the heart of us that is utter simplicity itself. Enjoy!
Book Review: Big Subject Summary: 5 Stars
This framework is exceedingly powerful. Playing with the voices of trancendent wisdom as Merzl describes is a remarkable way to calibrate one's own experience with that of a high level zen master. If you are curious about the states zen strives to achieve, this book is an amazing gift because it takes you right there (of course one has to do the technique, but it is simple). It provides a distilled and universal spiritual experience but one that does draw insightful distinctions about levels of development. Bravo!
