Book Reviews of Blue Hat, Green Hat (Boynton on Board)Book Review: Mommy, OOPS! Summary: 5 Stars
My 2 year old daughter loves this book!!! It confused me at first when we would sit down to read a different book and she would say, "Mommy, Oops!" But eventually after she kept running to get it I caught on that we MUST read the 'oops' book! It's been a great book from learning simple things like hat, shirt, etc. to now working on her colors. Just enough pictures on each page to keep her interest, but yet I can get her focused when we are working on trying to remember colors, etc. I have several Boynton books and they are all fabulous. But I think this one wins out with my daughter!
Book Review: BRILLIANT, BRILLIANT, BRILLIANT!!!!!! Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this on a whim for my 18 month old grandson, having never heard of Sandra Boynton. Ok, so I've lived abroad for like EVER, and this is our first grandchild ... long story. But I cannot praise this book highly enough -- as our previous reviewer mentioned, it is belly-laughs galore for our little man! (You should hear how he cracks up when we embellish the Oops! to "Oopsie Poopsie!!" Hilarious!) This is a hands down family favorite, and should be required "reading" for all us adults as well. Heaven knows, we can all use a good laugh! Enjoy!!!!!
Book Review: Endless Giggles! Summary: 5 Stars
I teach a preschool class for 3 year olds. One day, a group of them was in the reading center hovered around this book. The group grew and the giggles became louder and louder. Finally, I had to know what in the world was getting such a marked response from my little cuties. The silly turkey in this book had hit a home run. It is rare that 3 year olds can pick up a book and immediately grasp the message of a book without any adult guidance or interpretation. How wonderful that my class could share this moment of independent reading pleasure!
Book Review: Fun Teaching Tool Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this for my son when he was appx. 18mos. after the firts reading, it was one of his top 3 requests. He laughs so hard when the "oops" happens. Through the laughter this book has helped reinforce the names of articles of clothing, and it help me realize that children can even learn concepts at such an early age. It doesn't have to always be straight forward up-down, 1-2-3. Read this book early on in the bedtime process because if your child laughs as hard as mine does, it may hamper the sleeping process. Have fun
Book Review: Tur-key! Summary: 5 Stars
We love this book too. But instead of "blue hat red hat green hat... oops!," my 16-month-old son and I say "blue hat red hat green hat... TURKEY!" (he says the turkey part) Not only has it helped develop his speech, but his smile and it makes lunchtime extra fun. It's a good book to mix in with all the car, dog, and shape stories we read every day. Isn't it fun to have an inside joke with a baby? This book is really worth it, but I recommend buying more than one Sandra Boyton book. This Stay At Home Mom (SAHM) says buy them all!
