Book Reviews of Book of the Dead (Kay Scarpetta, No 15)

Book Review: Her worst book !!
Summary: 1 Stars

This has got to be one of the worst books she has written. It looks like this is her rant against the Iraq war. She seems to hate everybody and everything in US goverment, I guess she is just another "I hate George Bush" person. Very sloppy and jumps around alot. She seems do have to much detail about equipment and it was DULL!! Near the end of the book it looks like she just got tired and quit. There is no real ending, but it was a relief to get to the end of this mess ! This book needed 0 stars. Don't waste your money like I did.

Book Review: Not the Scarpetta I grew to love
Summary: 1 Stars

I used to love the Scarpetta novels. But one thing that really irritates me is when an author injects current day political views into the mix. Aside from that, I really am tired of the Marino is scum, Lucy is uberwoman, Kay is hurt consistently by one and all scenarios. One of the things that made me fall in love with the character of Kay was her strength. Now she has fallen into self-pity and it is really annoying me. The last few books have left me feeling this way and I don't know if I will buy the next one.

Book Review: The victim is the only 'winner'
Summary: 1 Stars

Normally I find an author and read absolutely everything they've written.
However, I have found that Ms. Cornwell's writing has become increasingly depressing, and at an alarming rate.
With each new book, Ms. Cornwell has managed to drag every character, however peripheral, in Kay Scarpetta's infintesimal world further into a dysfunctional black hole. Each and every character should be on a ledge by now.
At least the victim is lucky enough to be tortured and killed off early in the storyline.

Book Review: Cornwell has grown to hate her characters
Summary: 1 Stars

I am really disappointed. The Kay Scarpetta books used to be my favorites, but they had become rather tiresome. Now I know why: The author hates her characters and she is trying to destroy them and drive away their fans.
What a shame! If she doesn't like her characters anymore, then she should stop writing about them. Or, is this because ahe has a contract obligation that she cannot get out of?
If the reader is a Kay Scarpetta fan, skip this book. If not, this is not a good book.

Book Review: Yep, it's bad
Summary: 2 Stars

I really hate to say this, but the book is just bad. All the usual characters have all gone weird. As I struggled through it, forcing myself to read bits at a time between other books, I kept getting the feeling that Cornwell was in a depression when she wrote this. Half the time, I didn't understand (and really didn't care) what was going on. Honestly, I'm not even sure if I ever finished it. That said, I adored her other Scarpetta books, which made this one doubly disappointing.
