Book Reviews of Boston's Gun BibleBook Review: I voted for Obama! Summary: 5 Stars
What a page turner!!!
I have been buying books from Amazon for over a decade now, and my purchases have been based largely on the reviews. I have never written a review nor felt the responsibility to do so until now.
Boston's Gun Bible will be one of the MOST IMPORTANT books you will EVER read, and it needs to be read now!
I'm a college grad, live in a big city, and voted for our current president (huuuuge mistake). After there was no "Change" I started to "Wake Up". Well friends I am now "WIde Awake and On Board"!
A year ago I never owned a firearm, much less knew how to load one. I didn't know about caliber, effective ranges, or carbines vs battle rifles, etc. Frankly, I never felt the need to own one. I didn't understand why we need them. Now I will fight tooth and nail for our Second Amendment.
LISTEN UP Americans, whether you are a Democrat or a Republican, Jewish, Christian, or Muslim, in order for free men to remain free, they MUST be armed! How can anyone argue against History? ALL OF THE ANSWERS ARE THERE in history. There is a reason that Polish Jews were easily marched off to concentration camps. They were UN-ARMED! Ever hear of a a Swiss Jew in a concentration camp? No? Well, the reason is, THEY WERE ARMED, and the Swiss people STILL ARE!!!
Boston's Gun Bible is packed (800 Pages) with a history and review of tons of firearms, a lot of history in reference to firearms, and a lesson in the failures that we have become as Americans, along with what we can do to secure a free country for our children.
I have bought a half dozen of these books and given them to friends/family, and HIGHLY recommend that you pick one up for yourself before our government decides you shouldn't have it, "for your own protection" of course.
An ABSOLUTE must for all men to remain free, not just Americans!
Book Review: The Ultimate Book for Firearms Owners - Monumental! Summary: 5 Stars
Boston's Gun Bible stands alone as the very best all-around reference for firearms owners. Not only does it cover practical rifles, pistols, and shotguns in detail, but it has a wealth of valuable information on related subjects such as optics, practical carry, training, legal issues, and legislative issues. The new expanded and updated edition (with 200 extra pages) is fantastic!This weighty tome is an absolute MUST for all gun owners. At $28 it isn't cheap, but as I stated before in reviewing the previous edition, it is worth every penny. Boston's observations and conclusions about guns are precisely researched, scientific, and relatively dispassionate. Unlike many other writers in the firearms field, Boston has consistently shown that he is willing to change his mind when presented with logical evidence. This is a book that may very well save the life of yourself or a loved one. It is also a highly influential book that may contribute in the long run to the restoration of our Constitutional Republic and freedom around the world. Boston's Gun Bible doesn't just whine about the decline of our God-given Constitutional liberties. Rather, it shows practical solutions that individual Citizens can and must take to insure the liberty of future generations. It is nothing short of a monumental work of non-fiction! Don't just buy one copy. Buy two! You will soon find that you'll need an extra copy to lend out to family members and friends. OBTW, if you already have the older edition, then I strongly suggest that you buy the new expanded and updated edition. This valuable new information is well worth the investment. As a published fiction writer, I stand in awe of this important piece of non-fiction. It deserves a place of honor on the bookshelf of every freedom-loving Citizen. Book Review: Mr. Party's Bible - Few Books are More Needed or Valuable Summary: 5 Stars
If I had to choose only one book on the subject of Guns AND their relationship with Liberty it would be this book. It delivers more insight with every read and takes on more depth as the readers' experience grows. It also speaks equally well to both the novice and the expert.
In other words, it is truly a "Bible" on the subject.
While no beginner to self-defense or liberty my premises and beliefs in the physical aspects of these areas were disassembled, investigated and re-assembled into a higher state by reading (And acting on) the authors' advice.
Have you ever read an entertaining non-fiction reference book? (Yes, such a creature exists!). This one is written by a guy with a knack for putting things simply. The author gets right to the point and covers a lot of ground. Take its 848-page size as an indication of its value on such diverse subjects as:
* Safety & Handling
* Self-defense & The Law
* Tactics & Training
* Women & Guns
* Combat Rifle History
* Rating the Combat Rifles
* Handguns
* Shotguns
* Bolt-Action, .50BMG and Other Rifles
* Gear
* Shopping Guide
* Federal "Gun Controls"
* Gun Laws in the 50 States & D.C.
* Preparing for the Worst
* Wealth vs. Liberty
* Patriot Light!
It's rare to find a person with such depth of understanding and expertise on a subject who can also write simply and well about it. When you do find such a person they are a rare treasure.
Oh, and be careful: You might find yourself giggling and writing little 'to-do' lists in the margins while your wife is trying to sleep. This book is so inspirational that it's my wife that may be giggling and waking me up, some day soon!

Book Review: Very good read. (Updated July, 20th 2006) Summary: 4 Stars
I applaud this book and Boston's informed insights into the issues of gun laws, patriotism, government, and firearms.
I found his analysis to be complete and fair (his bias for specific products is evident, but at least he admits them.)
I think he is dead on accurate when talking about personal liberty, being responsible for your own protection, and items that almost no one owns yet everyone *should* own.
.
I would have liked to have seen a chapter on "gun privacy." And privacy issues in general when dealing with weapon and ammunition purchases. However, I can see how privacy issues would take an entire book of its own (He has written a great privacy book as well, with an updated version hopefully coming out in 2007.)
Privacy is even more important in this day and age where the Patriot Act has unknown numbers of three-letter agencies just looking for people to buy guns, ammo, special literature, etc.
I previously had an issue with what appeared to me as Boston telling people selling guns at gun shows to get drivers license information of the buyer (Section 28/4). However, after emailing Boston I finally got my facts straight.
EDIT (July 20th) :: I emailed Boston and he informed me (paraphrasing) "...that most gun show private sales will not request ID from buyers. In section 28/4 he was just telling people to protect themselves when SELLING there own firearms that have already been papered in their own names."
That makes sense to me... If you have already papered a gun to yourself, then it makes sense to cover yourself if you sell that gun.
With that straightened out, I can now increase my review to 5 stars. (if the above EDIT would let me change my rating).
Excellent book!
Book Review: Written by a True Believer Summary: 4 Stars
Boston T. Party is a pen-name for Kenneth W. Royce, a libertarian author of several non-fiction books. In his firearms reference manual, Boston's Gun Bible, the author pours out his knowledge of guns, but apparently does not bother to employ either a ghost writer or editor.
A basic knowledge of firearms is assumed by the author however, the first chapter does cover terminology. Later chapters include Women and Guns, Rating the Battle Rifles, Rating the Battle Carbines, How to Buy, Sell & Trade and You & the BATF. Also included are chapters or sections covering individual rifles and pistols. Based on the information provided, I would give the book five stars.
There is a detailed table of contents, but no index. The pages are number in the military style, chapter/page, so if you are on the tenth page of chapter four it would read 4/10. One reviewer mentioned the book had 848 pages. I have not counted.
The writing style varies unevenly from technical to conversational, sprinkled with wit and occasional sarcasm. Fonts, font size, italics and bolding seem to change at the whim of the author. This does detract from a five star rating. However if you want basic information and opinion based upon experience about modern firearms and accessories as well as rankings and comparisons between different makes and models, this is an excellent buy. James Wesley, Rawles of survivalblog calls it, "the very best all-around reference for firearms owners" and that it is a must for all gun owners."
Recommendation: If you have one or two guns and are interested in expanding both your knowledge and your collection I recommend Boston's Gun Bible as an easy to read reference manual.
