Book Reviews of Boston's Gun BibleBook Review: Must have book!!! Summary: 5 Stars
I accidentily discovered this writer when I won an auction lot of books. I was overwhelmed by his frank hard-hitting style of writing and no holds barred truth. This book is by far the best I've ever seen on guns. From the technical knowledge, little known facts/tricks, tactical information it's like a complete course in one book. Just one tip like how to use the width of your front sight as a range finder is worth the price of the book (-ie- the 8 moa width of a M14 front sight lines up perfectly with the army targets at a certain range). I received an expert marksman award in the military and believe me I never received any training about this. There is so much information presented that each chapter in itself could I think be expanded into its own book. Especially the chapters on battle rifles and becoming a rifleman. Other valuable information such as home defense, what to do in event of a self defense shooting, etc. Invaluable stuff that someday could save you or your families lives or at least keep you out of prison. I hope he continues to keep writing and expanding on this material cause I'll be buying them all.
Book Review: Entertaining but has its flaws... Summary: 3 Stars
To start with, I grew up in the gun culture. I'm a C&R collector, an avid shooter and a reloader. And I have a Ph.D. As such, I thought this book would be an interesting treatise. It is fun to read but it is mostly opinion and a lot of it is poorly informed. And while there are some solid facts, I was a little disappointed by some of the misinformation presented. If that was not bad enough, I was very disturbed by the last chapter. In it, the author describes a scene in which a well prepared plumber kills half-a-dozen ATF/FBI/Federal Agents as they execute an illegal search warrant on his premises. It was very exciting to read, very well written, but what is the point? If you kill 6 federal agents, even if they are illegally on your property, you will be getting the death penalty- if they don't shoot you on site. As much useful information as there is in this book, it is extremely paranoid and all but encourages illegal activity and violent civil disobedience. Yeah, the 2nd amendment is under fire. I get it. But killing federal agents? Subverting the ATF at gunshows? I could do without all the crazy.
Book Review: If you like wasting time, don't buy this book Summary: 5 Stars
Whether you are an experienced shooter or a neophyte to the world of arms, this book has something important to say to you.
A substantial portion of the book is meticulously prepared testing and evaluation of handguns, longguns, and ammunition, EXPLAINED in concise, real world context. Boston has done all your basic homework for you. All that is left for you to do is to decide what features apply to your needs, make some intelligent purchases, and start DOING. There is more relevent "how to" information contained in this book than any book in my library. Want to become a rifleman? Have trouble deciding on the right caliber of pistol for self defense? Don't know how to talk to the gun control crowd in a meaningful, factual manner? Can't decide on the kind of optic to put in front of your aging eyes? Boston has the answers that only an experienced shooter and firearms instructor can offer. I have given this book to several friends and will continue to do so. Most of them have gone on to purchase and enjoy other titles by Boston, particularly "You and the Police"
Book Review: Excellent Desk Reference for Shooters and those who wish to retain their liberties Summary: 5 Stars
Boston has given us a great manual on firearms which should be on every gun owners shelf next to the writings of Massad Ayoob and the late Jeff Cooper. Just the links alone are worth the cost of the book. As a result I've just acquired my MBR, and am culling my collection for funds to add a CQBC. A year from now, when the 2008 election nears, we will all be grateful for what Boston has taught us and what we've done with it (Luke 22:36). Boston is the writer for all who would rather die on their feet than live on their knees.
Along the way, Boston confronts us-in a polite way-to walk our talk and give more than lip service to the groups who continue to work in the trenches to protect our first freedom.
His novel "Molon Labe" is also a must read. More punch than "Atlas Shrugged" and about 200 less pages of meaningless romantic swooning of a modern woman into the arms of an industrial manly man. Buy everything this man sells so he can take time off to write a sequel to Molon Labe!
Thanks, Boston, and may God Bless!
Book Review: An enlightening, addicting, well written book. Summary: 5 Stars
Boston T. Party hooked me with this book. I have since purchased a few of his other books, but being a gun nut, this is hands down my favorite. It is actually my favorite reference book for firearms, period. It helped me get my first quality M1 Garand. It helped me choose my first pistol (A Springfield XD .40) and energized me to take action on polishing the last line of defense of my divine rights, as well as participate in the Appleseed Project. Aside from an an in depth firearm reference, Boston T. Party provides a fresh, common sense approach to libertarian philosophy. It's a straight foward, practical look at, as "free" people, where we came from, where we are, how we got here, and what to expect to expect in the future. I recommend this book to everyone. After a year of owning it, I still pick it up and re-read excerpts on a regular basis. I hope to see an updated version one of these days, discussing the progress made in .308 battle rifles like the SCAR-H, TAR-21 and many other MBRs over the last few years.
In Liberty,
Ben
