Book Reviews of Breaking Free from Emotional Eating

Book Review: Excellent Resource for Managing Negative Body Image Issues
Summary: 5 Stars

As a weight loss counsellor and someone who also manages her own weight and body image issues, I found this book extremely valuable. It places no blame and offers the reader personal stories of "success and failure" - concepts the author finds unhelpful. The book offers strategies and tools that work if one is ready to use them.

Geneen Roth has written many books on this subject. This is the first I've read and I recommend it, highly.

Book Review: great read for those with food issues
Summary: 4 Stars

I wasn't too sure what to expect, but this book offers some useful tips and activities for those dealing with food issues. I've had issues food for most of my life, and this book has helped to delve into the unconscious issues behind my relationship with food. Although I do not agree with the authors 'eat whatever you want, when you want it' mantra; I feel that she suggests trying this in order to zap the power that we give to some forbidden foods.

Book Review: Powerful read
Summary: 5 Stars

This book is definitely one that will make you re-evaluate the way you look at yourself and your r/s to food. But in terms of practical solutions, I'm not so sure it translates well. I would recommend it for those who want to explore the nuts and bolts of binge eating and Roth has an arresting narrative style that will have you glued to every page. I sometimes go back to key chapters if I feel vulnerable or feel tempted to have a binge.

Book Review: This book has saved my life!
Summary: 5 Stars

I have had problems with emotional eating/binge eating on and off for over 15 years. Geneen Roth shares her struggle with emotional eating and as you are reading you feel as if you are not alone. That many other people share your struggle and there is help. This book is based on her work shops with exercises but mainly deep reading that really gets you to re-set how you think about yourself. I have and I do recommend this book.

Book Review: A good book but is just Compulsive Eating retitled
Summary: 4 Stars

It's a good book but I didn't realise until it arrived from Amazon that I already had the book. The original was released as Breaking Free from Compulsive Eating. This is Breaking Free from Emotional Eating.

I have to confess to feeling slightly cheated having bought the same book twice!!! I've given it 4 stars because it's a good book but I was pretty frustrated to receive a book I'd already read
