Book Reviews of Brethren: Raised By Wolves, Volume OneBook Review: Why does this series have such high ratings? Summary: 2 Stars
While I acknowledge there are those who find these kind of soap opera antics deeply engaging, I am baffled as to how they might think it merits a high score. Melodrama does not constitute emotional insight.
Try these:
Warchild -- Karin Lowachee
Hallucinating Foucault -- Patricia M. Duncker
Swordspoint -- Ellen Kushner
The Left Hand of Darkness -- Ursula K. Le Guin
Book Review: Absolutely couldn't put it down Summary: 5 Stars
Hoffman has managed to bring a very unusual historical world to life, with fascinating characters, details and a great story. The first few chapters were a little hard to get through - you have to get used to the old fashioned dialog, but it is worth it. A very moving love story that is quite unusual. Plenty of interesting issues - homosexuality, insanity, morality. Makes me want to take fencing lessons. Buy it.
Book Review: Highly Recommended!!! Summary: 5 Stars
All I can say is I loved every single thing about this book. After the first few pages I was so engrossed in the story, I couldn't put it down! All the characters are so lovable. Even though they have their own serious issues, you can't help but want the best for them. W.A. Hoffman is a very talented writer and I'm so glad I discovered these books. JUST BUY THE BOOK!!! I PROMISE YOU'LL LOVE IT!!!
Book Review: Surprisingly good read Summary: 5 Stars
When I first saw this book, I said to myself, "Seriously, a gay pirate story?" However, the reviews were overwhelmingly positive, so I decided to give it a shot. I'm elated that I did. I couldn't put the book down, and finished the whole thing in just a couple of days.
Book Review: Great Great Great Summary: 5 Stars
I just love this book! The characters just seem so real, and the story just flows. I plan to continue reading this series, and I highly recommend it. Especially for those who like nice long novels and m/m romance.
