Book Reviews of Brother Odd (Odd Thomas Novels)Book Review: Love this character! Summary: 5 Stars
Just finished this last night, and I really loved it. There is a quality about "Oddie" that I find very refreshing. His shyness and humility possibly?
I am also an avid Dean Koontz fan. I love his writing, and to be honest, Mr. Koontz and my other favorite writer, Mr. King have spoiled me for a lot of other writers.
They really possess a certain quality in their writing that I can't explain.
I am not very well-versed, nor would I be considered grammatically correct at any level, but I do know how much talent both these authors possess.
Please continue this character Mr. Koontz.
Book Review: Odd at with the Habit Summary: 4 Stars
Maui H.S. This was the most interesting story to me of all the Odd Thomas books I've read to date. I liked the monasterial setting. I loved the challenged kids. The mother superior and sisters were fantastic characters. The mad Russian at the end was the epitome of characters. The interaction and humor of Odd Thomas with these characters was well done. Best of all, Odd Thomas didn't have to kill anyone. The character meant to kill did. I also liked the introduction of Boo and Frank Sinatra. ..."
Book Review: Love the Odd stories Summary: 5 Stars
This is an amazing book. Once I started reading this book I couldn't put it down just like all the other books by Dean Koontz. He keeps you on the edge of your seat throughout the whole book. Love the perfect balance between love and action. I think this is such a good idea. I love how Dean explains his ideas for his books thoroughly and do not just leave you hanging. Every time I finish another one of his books, he has me thinking...it could happen. Odd Thomas is my favorite character that Dean has created. This book is definitely a must buy and a must read.
Book Review: Mr. Koontz's new hero... Summary: 4 Stars
Friends gave me 'Odd Thomas' to read after I had expressed my dissatisfaction with Mr. Koontz's Moonlight Bay Trilogy. They urged me to try again. I am grateful. His dialogue is great, filled with humorous self-deprecation and the delivery is whimsically eccentric. Loved the character and will continue to read ALL Odd novels. Brother Odd is (to me) the weakest story of the three i've 'read' (I listen), but I wouldn't turn a reader/listener away from these books and this wonderful new character. Thanks, Dean! (may I call you Dean?)
Book Review: Quck Review Summary: 3 Stars
The third story featuring the character Odd Thomas, the ghost-seeing ex-fry cook introduced in "Odd Thomas" and continued in "Forever Odd". This one finds Odd retreating to a monastery/orphanage in response to events in the previous books. His solitude is interrupted when one of the monks goes missing and Odd observes dark entities stalking the children. The book contains Dean Koontz's usual blend of humor, suspense and snappy dialogue. While the first book is still the best. this was an enjoyably quick and breezy read.
