Book Reviews of Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?

Book Review: Fabulous Read-Aloud
Summary: 5 Stars

This picture book has a multitude of identifiable images that is
appropriate to readers. Children will love the text and repitition of words which will keep them engaged. The overall theme of this book relates to colors and animals. This is shown within the illustrations, which are bright. The colors that are used within the story help to create a sense of high-energy not only among the images seen, but by the readers as well. Overall, this is a great book to have. It will keep children engaged, as well as wanting to read it more and more.

Book Review: cute and simple
Summary: 4 Stars

This cute, simple book really sticks with you! It's repetative words, "brown bear, brown bear what do you see?" really hold the kids attention. Its simple pictures and simple words are prefect for little ones. It is also a great way to learn animals and colors but much cuter than one of the many color-oriented books out there. I also love that it is a board book so it doesn't get so beat up. I adore this book but a neighbor came over, read it to the kdis, and then said..."What is this? I could write this and draw those pictures!" Maybe so, but he didn't.

Book Review: A perfect first book
Summary: 5 Stars

I received this book as a shower gift for my first child. I started reading it to my daughter at bedtime from about 3-months-old and she still loves it now at age two.

When they are little, the colors are enthralling. As they get older, this book helps them to learn their animals and colors. We also made animal sounds to go along with each animal to jazz up the story a bit as she got older. We also bought "Panda Bear" and "Polar Bear" in the series to help her learn more exotic animals, their sounds and colors.

Book Review: a classic
Summary: 5 Stars

I remember loving this book as a child, and reading this to my six-month-old son brought back wonderful memories. Yes, there's a simplistic theme running through the pages, but a young child listens for the repetitive phrase and looks for the big, colorful images. My son gets very excited each time I read the book to him, reaching for each of the animals as the page turns; and as he gets older and can comprehend the pictures better, I'm sure he'll appreciate Martin and Carle's work as much as I did.

I highly recommend this delightful book.

Book Review: Beautiful book, but not as captivating as some
Summary: 3 Stars

If I were rating this book for me, I'd give it five stars. The illustrations are gorgeous, and the concept is really strong. It teaches sequencing as well as color and animal identification. I bought this book for my daughter, who's 2 1/2, because I knew they read it at preschool. However, she has never been particularly interested in having me read it to her. (I have noticed her "reading" it to herself a couple of times.) It's a preschool classic, but I'd make sure your child actually likes it before buying a copy for home.
