Book Review: I feel a little ripped-off.

The book gives some excellent ideas and instructions on using the 40d, and certainly goes deeper in detail than Canon's manual for the camera. Where the camera's manual is vague, this book takes the reader deeper through the process, step-by step for the most part.
The part where I feel most ripped off concerns the use of Speedlites. The introduction and the back cover of this book infer that the use of Canon's Speedlites are addressed in the book. In fact, the use of Speedlites is really only covered in generalities for the most part, with little instruction on using the different Speedlite settings with this camera. I suppose that is to be expected since this book is about the camera, not the Speedlites, but after reading the introduction and back cover I expected more.
There are also some other areas that should get a little more attention in this book. For example, 'setting white balance shift' would be more easily understood if there were some photos or drawings showing the actual LCD screen settings alongside the before and after photos, to show how the settings affect the photos. As it is, I will have to play around more with those settings to figure out where the cursor has to be placed on the screen to offset a given color cast. Also, the author will occassionally make a statement in one part of the book that contradicts either a statement in another part of the book, or my own findings as I use the camera. For example: she states on page 38 that "The autofocus point that establishes focus is also the point at which the camera determines the exposure for the scene". This is not necessarily true, it all depends on which autofocus point(s) achieves focus vs the metering pattern. If I am using spot metering, but focus is achieved by an AF sensor outside of the spot metering circle, then what? (All the AF sensors except the center one are outside of that metering circle.) In any case, I am still confused by what she meant by that statement. Common sense tells me that she means in the 'evaluative' metering mode, but she doesn't state that, and I am still not sure.
To sum it up, a very informative book that goes into great depth in most areas, but only scratches the surface of a few other areas that should be covered; and occasionally the author makes a statement that tends to make things more confusing.
NOTE: Most photos in this book are in color, so Kindle will not do them justice.
