Book Reviews of Canon EOS 50D Digital Field GuideBook Review: spend the extra money on a better book. Summary: 2 Stars
this book is very hard to follow and has a very poor flow to it. there is very little that you can read without a web browser open to make more sense of this field guide. i am a novice to photography and i did learn about certain aspects like appeture and shutter speeds that i didn't know before. there is a lot of knowledge that Charlotte K. Lowrie has to deliver but she has a very complex way of delivering it. she has a thorough understanding of the EOS 50D but if you are looking for a easy reader i suggest looking else where.
Book Review: Clear but not inspiring Summary: 3 Stars
An accurate, capable, and technical approach to the 50D. But the photo examples are a bit boring in my opinion. I much preferred the Jeff Revel book on the 50D--inspiring photo examples and detailed how-to tips. I am a beginner; perhaps an expert would prefer Lowrie's more detailed and technical style. Revel is a friend of Scott Kelby and his book has the Kelby feel: easy to read and lots of great color examples of what the 50D can do and how to do it.
Book Review: Excellent Summary: 5 Stars
I bought my 50D in 11/08 and bought her book on the 40D before books on the 50D came out. It helped me out immediately. My previous cameras were the New F1 and AE1 Program (early 80's film cameras). I had no digital experience. This book is must if you're not familiar with digital. Also must for the 50D owner!!

Book Review: upgrade manual Canon 50D Summary: 3 Stars
It was quite interesting and definitely offered a bit more than the Canon manual but I would like to have seen this part even more personalised. I wonder how the small raw compares with taking a jpeg or even a large Raw but this was not done, there was a mention of the settings and that was more or less that
Book Review: Digital Photography Summary: 5 Stars
after buying the 50D, I realized that I needed help to get the benefit of the many features of this camera. The Digital Field Guide is providing great info and is the right size for field trips. It has already helped me when doing nature field trips. I would recommend this book as a good aid for the 50D.
