Book Reviews of Caring for Your Baby and Young Child, Revised Edition: Birth to Age 5 (Shelov, Caring for your Baby and Young Child, Birth to Age 5)Book Review: A Must Need Summary: 5 StarsEveryone with a child should have this book. It doesn't take the place of a pediatrician, but it gives you the advice that one possbily would give to a parent. What I find most helpful is being able to look up what my child should be eating and drinking for his age and also what to do at home when a child has a cold, ect.
It makes a great baby shower or welcome home gift!
Book Review: A MUST HAVE Summary: 5 StarsThis book was given to my mother by the nurses in the pediatrics department at her job, when she and my dad had a late in life baby. The entire family used this book as a resource when caring for our little brother. It was written by professionals which gives everyone comfort when using it. I give this book as a gift to every new mom I know!
Book Review: good how to Summary: 5 StarsI really liked this book. It goes through stage by stage for babies (birth -3 months then 3-4 months and so on) and then year by year. The format is easy to use if your looking for a specific subject or age group. There are good 'how to' tips that would be helpful for new parents.
Book Review: Handbook for kids 0-5 - Honestly! Summary: 5 StarsAnyone who doesn't want to call their doctor every two seconds needs this!
It's like having them on your shoulder....You won't need another book until they hit 5!
Book Review: A great reference! Summary: 4 StarsThis book is a great reference tool. I'm definitely glad I purchased it. However it addresses a number of months at a time (ie, one chapter is dedicated to children ages 4-7 months). We all know how different a 4 month old is from a 7 month old, so if you are looking for a month by month guide, get "What to Expect the First Year." I own both books and consult them each for different things.
