This is one of the most enjoyable autobiographies I've ever read, and I've read a lot. Johnny Cash's style is very conversational and you really feel as if he is talking just to you as you read. He lets you into some really personal moments in his life that you don't tend to see in others biogs (such as his personal prayers and meditations), as well as describing his friendships, growing up and various addictions. You really get a feel for the man from this book and it comes highly recommended.

What a fantastic book! Being a Johnny Cash fan all my life I wanted to read about his life, and, when I read it, I thought he was talking straight to me. He is really a great storyteller, he is straight and to the point, basically just tells you about his life, everything that made him who he was. He does't leave anything out. He tells about the good times on tour and at his childhood, and in the dark times with drug addictions. He really is good, so if your a Cash fan, and you want to learn more about him, Cash is the book to read.Book Review: Cash does what he does best

In this book Cash does what he does best and that's tell stories. Anybody who's even remotely familiar with his career and music knows he is a master storyteller. Cash the Autobiography is the perfect forum for the man to bear his soul and talk about his life. Never one to hold back he gives us highs lows and everything in between. This legend lived harder and faster than most rock stars could ever dream of. Get this and listen to the man in black tell you his story.Book Review: Sing it don't write it!

Don't get me wrong, I love Johnny Cash's music, especially that album where he helped all those prisoners - many of them murderers - escape from the Hell of their daily routines. But this is yet another book that proves the old adage that musicians should stick to music and leave writing to the writers and autobiographing to the autobiographers. It's an interesting story, but Johnny's already told that story much better through his songs and stage shows.Book Review: The Man In Black!

I HIGHLY reccomend Cash by Johnny Cash with Patrick Carr. I grew up in the south and because of my parents and grandparents, I grew up with a knowledge of the Carter family and Johnny Cash. After reading Cash, I felt like I really understood some of the journey that Johnny had been through. If you're really interested in what forces drove the man with the man with the venerable voice, read this book!
