Book Reviews of Celebrity Detox: (The Fame Game)

Book Review: A vew of her view of 'the View'.
Summary: 4 Stars

I think with Rosie, you either love her or hate her, and if you're in the latter there's really no reason to be reading this book. However I think whatever camp you fall in, it's hard not to respect her for her honesty and near fearlessness in telling the truth. Like her blog, the book gushes out in a near stream of consciousness that you either get and go with, or hop out of the boat and scratch your head. And although much of the book deals with her sticky relationship with Barbara Walters who becomes some greater representation of her own Mother, the book never feels sensational or dishy. You won't find passages bashing Elizabeth and Joy, and Trump manages to bury himself enough that even those segments are restrained from vitriol. Bottom line is, if you like her, this is only going to make you respect her that much more.

Book Review: We all need to Detox...Rosie's version is very candid
Summary: 4 Stars

The best parts about this book were the descriptions we didn't see start or play out on TV. I was disappointed at first that it seemed to be SO much about The View and Barbara Walters...but only at first.

Rosie has an important point to make and it is that if you don't pay attention to the little voice inside you and do what is really right for you...then you will need to be detoxed when it all comes crashing down.

I think when she is ready to tie all of here important life stories into more of a memoir, she will really have something. Look for those little gems in this one. She's as honest as she can be about how SHE feels and maybe you will be able to see and feel a little bit more about her.

It's a quick read...insightful. I think I will always love Rosann O'Donnell.

Book Review: Different
Summary: 2 Stars

I have loved Rosie since she starred on Broadway and did stand up but it seems as if she has become tainted as time goes on. She seems to be disturbed even after reading this book. She has many references to her mom and I had a father die and I to survived after 9/11 but am not fortunate enough to have the money she has which she has worked for. But this book sounds if she is bitching about everything and its getting old. She is slowly losing fans, I was hanging on but this sent me over. I can no longer tolerate her weird conspiracies of the world and of life. She needs to maybe grow up and realize she has it a hell of lot better than so many. So if she is upset with a little thing BW says, boo hoo. I would not recommend this book, in fact I tell people not to read it.

Book Review: Liked it a lot
Summary: 4 Stars

I admit I bought this book out of morbid curiosity. I am a fan of Rosie O'Donnell and her blog. I have watched her on the View and have listened to her side of things.

I admire the woman for writing so candidly about her fame and being so honest about the year on the View. She isn't one to mince words, and actually I respect that of her. I also respect that she has tried to mother her 4 kids despite how the press has depicted her.

I read the book straight through in about 2 hrs. Good read. I liked her candor and her artistic way with words.

If you want smut, go buy US magazine or tune into FOX news. If you want her side of her life which she lives, buy the book. Or check it out at the library.

I get it. I like it.

Book Review: Nothing new or interesting
Summary: 1 Stars

For those that claim that I am nothing but a Coulter apologist who never read Rosie's book, you are displaying your ignorance. Indeed I did give a favorable review to Coulter's book, but that has nothing to do with my opinion on Rosie. In fact, the two have much in common. Obnoxious and entertaining. Unfortunately, Rosie's book is not that interesting and it merely rehashes old stories that have been heard before. Her struggle to deal with her mother's death at a young age is sad, but otherwise this is merely a cry for more attention from a woman who is far from acheieving her goal of celebrity detox. She is self absorbed and looking for more headlines. Don't give her what she needs. Tough love would mean ignore this insipid little book.
