Book Reviews of Celiac Disease: A Hidden EpidemicBook Review: FABULOUS Summary: 5 Stars
this book has been a true Godsend for me since going gluten free 7 months ago. i have learned so much about Celiac Disease and the other conditions that come along with it, one of them i was actually diagnosed with previously and i had no idea that it was tied to Celiac Disease. i have not been offically diagnosed w/CD but i stay away from gluten anyway due to the fact that since giving it up, my suffering and symptoms have ended. i found this book extremely informative and it gave me the answers to why i felt the way i did for the past 20 years. it has been a real help to me. it eased my mind and made me realize my symptoms were not psychosomatic.
Book Review: The Best Book I've Read on Celiac Disease Summary: 5 Stars
I applaude Dr. Green and Rory Jones with this new book. I've bought and read almost every book and cookbook ever written on celiac disease and the gluten free diet since my diagnosis 17 years ago and this is by far the best.
The book details the history of celiac disease, the medical aspects of the disease in layman's terms, and the diet itself in an easily readible book.
I loved the insertion of the personal stories throughout the book. Many people will find their own story in them. This book should be in every GI doctor's office in the country, not to mention every celiac's home.
I give this book an A+!
Book Review: The Best Book on This Subject Summary: 5 Stars
Get this book first if you think you might be having a problem with gluten. I haven't read any other book that is better than this one. Easy to read, and gives all the information you are going to need to get diagnosed correctly, as many doctors don't understand how to diagnose celiac or gluten sensitivity. You can take this book with you to the doctor and avoid arguments- Dr. Green is a top doctor in his field at Columbia University Medical Center, so your doctor should give weight to what he says. If you are newly diagnosed, this book will also provide you with a good understanding of the process of the disease and how to manage it.
Book Review: Leads to an understanding of the current knowledge... Summary: 5 Stars
Celiac Disease: A Hidden Epidemic was an excellent source of information regarding the topic. Written with what seems to be the most current state of understanding of this condition, this book was penned with the layman in mind. However, there is enough detail in the book to challenge the reader to do some research on their own. It is easy to read and if you are afflicted with any of the celiac-related conditions, you will burn through the book quickly. If you have or are interested in Celiac conditions, this book should be your starting place.
Book Review: What an eye opener ! Summary: 5 Stars
This is one of the best, most comprehensive books ever on celiac disease. It is helpful to know that even though some tests come back negative that having "hidden" celiac is very real. It can manifest is no very many ways and most doctors are not aware that this can be a problem!
Thanks to Dr Green, the answers are there in easily readable language. I would recommend this book to anyone that has digestive, skin or any other vague symptoms that no one seems to be able to treat( other than with prednisone). It is well worth the investment.
