Book Reviews of Certain Girls: A NovelBook Review: Terrible Summary: 1 Stars
Nothing like the fun that Good In Bed was. Cannie turned out to be just another woman w/ a teenaged daughter. There was nothing special about her at all. Even still, it was an OK book.
HOWEVER, the ending ruined everything! What a lazy way to end a book. Ok, I get that there are depressing books out there but they are also most of the times beautiful stories (A thousand splendid suns, etc). This was just a mediocre story with an awful ending. I almost felt betrayed.
Book Review: Jennifer's best! Summary: 5 Stars
What a follow up to "Good in Bed." - Better than I expected! The story follows up after Cannie gave birth to her daughter.. Now Cannie is in her 40s, her daughter, Joy is in her early teens. The story takes both of their sides into account, each chapter is told by Joy or Cannie's point of view. I was stunned by the ending, there's a huge twist that you do not see coming that is heart wrenching. It's sad, it's funny, it's relate able. 'Certain Girls' is Jennifer's best work to date.
Book Review: SO-SO Summary: 3 Stars
I normally love Jennifer Weiner's books and was so looking forward to reading the follow up to Good in Bed. But this book did not live up to my expectations. The chapters switching from Cannie to her daughter got really annoying and there was SO much bat mizvah stuff. It was sort of like, enough already! The book is still funny in places and it is not a bad book by any means. Just don't expect Good in Bed part 2.
Book Review: hits home to all... Summary: 5 Stars
Jennfier Weiner is an amazing author. In retrospect, the book takes on varying views with intense dialouge of issues we have all faced in some way or another. If you enjoyed reading "Good In Bed", this is an easy read entertaining sequel. Throughout the novel, I snikered, I smiled, I cried and became very upset when it was over.
Book Review: Good Book Summary: 4 Stars
I read this book because I loved "Good in Bed". I liked this book as well, but found Good in Bed a little better. The plot twisted often in "Certain Girls" and the ending did not fit what I expected it to be. Still, it was a good read and I'd recommend it to anyone wondering what happened after Good in Bed.
