Book Review: Dream of making chairs?

This book is great. I just finished the right angle chair and am moving into the shaker ladderback.
One of the best parts about this books is that it is stepwise. Each chair in the series adds in another aspect of chairmaking. The chair I just finished focused on basic mortise and tenon joinery. The next one picks up the master angle and how to make the front of the chair wider than the back (with dowel joinery so you don't have to think about angled tenons). The chair after that adds in the angle tenons and tapered legs, and so on.
I honestly believe that if you manage to work your way through the book not only will you have a really strong grasp on chairmaking but the rest of your woodworking will be much improved as well.
I only wish that there was a second volume with more chair plans / designs.
Book Review: Good Book...but maybe don't bother if you are a total beginner

Although I give this book 4 stars, to be honest it did not help me at all. I was hoping to be able to make my own chairs but apparently lack the skills that are necessary...and the patience. I would say if you are a beginning wood worker like myself that this may not be the right book for you. That said, the book seems like to someone with the right skill set it would be very helpful. The directions seem to be pretty clear, but that doesn't change the fact that chair making is complicated!!! This book is staying on my shelf until hopefully some day I can pick it back up and actually make a darn chair. If nothing else this book made the chairs that I bought seem like a bargain, considering all of the work that goes into them!Book Review: Excellent Book - great buy

Excellent and clear book with very good detail on the techniques for the more unusual shapes and angles. A good series of projects starting with basic disigns and progressing onwards.

This is a well written book. It does an excellent job of starting off with basic chair designs and moving on to more advanced designs. A lot of good photographs show the process of chairmaking. The gallery of chairs from other woodworkers is great - inspiring.Book Review: Best How To Book Ever

Jeff Miller starts you out with the most basic chair ever and then leads you along to more and more complicated designs step by step. By the end of the book, you feel confident in starting to build an arm chair. Great book.
