Book Reviews of Cheese PrimerBook Review: To my surprise, I've become transfixed by a cheese book! Summary: 5 Stars
I intended to use this book as a reference book -- but I found that I could not put it down! I actually read it cover to cover. The author's descriptions are incredibly seductive and not pretentious in the least. It is amazing how accurately he is able to capture in words something as elusive as the taste of different cheeses. I only wish he had included names of recommended cheese shops in America!
Book Review: Sherri Thorne's Reviews Summary: 5 Stars
This is the type of food guide that anyone would love to own! Steve Jenkin's passion for cheese leaps off the pages. Well illustrated, it takes the reader through all the major cheese producing countries on the planet. Filled with information on how to buy, store and serve cheese, it is useful for both novice and connoisseur alike. A welcome addition to anyone's kitchen library.
Book Review: Wow! A terrific book on a tasty subject Summary: 5 Stars
I wish that every town could have a cheesemonger as knowledgeable and friendly as Steven Jenkins. If you're ever in New York, bring this book to Fairway and have him sign it for you (and, of course, ask him to recommend some of the many incredible cheeses in his portion of the store). This book accomplishes what all great works do: it makes you hungry for more. Highly recommended.
Book Review: Cheese Primer Summary: 5 Stars
Great - easy to use. Can be used as a resource guide to look up cheeses but also fun to read like a novel/travelogue. My daughter originally bought it as a resource for a school project and we have all enjoyed it. I also gave a copy as a gift with some fun and different cheeses. Great to take to your local cheese shop and spend the morning hunting around.
Book Review: A wonderful cheese education Summary: 5 Stars
I went on a riding trip to France with two friends in May 2009 and we sampled many of the local cheeses. It was wonderful to find this book and learn more about the area we visited and the various cheeses we sampled. I wish I had known about it before I left on the trip. I bought 3 books and shared the other two with my friends.
