Book Review: Fantastic instructions and jewelry

Victoria Tillotson hit this book waaay out of the ballpark. This is the book that made me buy some hard-core tools.
This is a welcome and maybe even necessary addition to beginning metal jewelry.
Her instructions and approach show that she is a teacher. The chapters and projects are truly arranged by building skills and confidence while making really stylish jewelry. As you're reading and doing, you get the feeling that she's standing over your shoulder giving pointers and guiding your hands.
She starts with an in-depth discussion of tools divided into needs,(the must haves) and wants (nice to have when you really get into more metal jewelry. One thing, there's not an in-depth discussion on wire temper, guages and sheet metal, but if you done some wire work, what is there will suffice.
As usual with Potter Craft, there is a beautiful shot of the project followed by step-by-step instructions with line drawings for clarification and templates for some of the designs.
Instead of starting with the usual beginner-intermediate-advanced chapters, she starts with "extreme beginner" using tools most wire workers would already have on hand; wire cutters, round-nose pliers and hammers. (The cover project is in the first chapter). There are wire-forged earrings, a really cool curvy bracelet, and a "Omega" chain necklace (AKA ladder chain or eyelet chain).
The next chapter is confident beginner and introduces the Dremel for polishing and drilling and using the jeweler's saw for cutwork. These two chapters alone will have you making great looking metal jewelry.
As far as the dreaded S word, it's sawing not soldering which is next.
Chapter three introduces the torch for soldering and the first soldered projects are simple and classic bangle bracelets. Again, she is looking over your shoulder as you learn to solder by melting silver into little balls and getting a to know what to expect.
The last chapter introduces the ring mandrel and bezels for rings and pendants. By this time you're and advanced intermediate. (Nothing in the book is rated advanced).
If you go to her website, you'll see every technique she teaches in her designs. Her jewelry is classic yet modern without being to geometric as many beginning metal jewelry books are.
